‘It’s retraumatizing’: Family of Jeffrey Dahmer victim slams Netflix for reenactment of sister’s breakdown

The family of Jeffrey Dahmer’s 11th murder victim say they have been re-traumatized by Netflix’s reenactment of a highly emotional courtroom breakdown by one of their members.

The cousin of 19-yer-old Errol Lindsey, who disappeared from a Milwaukee mall, took to Twitter to slam Netflix’s new series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

“I’m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn [right now], but if you’re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell’s) are pissed about this show. It’s retraumatizing over and over again, and for what? How many movies/shows/documentaries do we need?” Eric Thulhu tweeted.

Lindsey was reportedly lured from a Wisconsin mall to Dahmer’s apartment to pose for nude photos, only to be butchered by the cannibalistic serial sicko.

The reenactment scene Thulhu was upset over featured his cousin’s sister, Rita Isbell, having an emotional breakdown as she addressed Dahmer — all these years later, the scene still evokes strong emotion.

Thulhu followed up, “So when they say they’re doing this ‘with respect for the victims’ or ‘honoring the dignity of the families,’ no one contacts them. My cousins wake up every few months at this point with a bunch of calls and messages and they know there’s another Dahmer show. It’s cruel.”

“Ok, I did not expect that tweet to get this much attention. To answer the main question, no, they don’t notify families when they do this. It’s all public record, so they don’t have to notify (or pay!) anyone. My family found out when everyone else did,” he continued.

“Lindsey was approached by Dahmer at a Wisconsin mall in 1994, and offered cash by the killer in return for letting Dahmer take nude photos of him,” the Daily Mail reported. “Dahmer then drugged Lindsey and began to drill a hole in his skull, before pouring acid into the opening. Lindsey woke up during the gruesome torture, prompting Dahmer to strangle him.”

The new Netflix release debuted on Wednesday, with Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes being released on October 7.

The actress who played Rita Isbell, the victim’s sister, in a dramatic courtroom scene reportedly said she didn’t know the victim’s stories before the show, and could only imagine the impact of Dahmer’s actions on the family and community.
