A Florida high school teacher was suspended from his job after his angry tirade directed at a student who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance was caught on video and posted to social media where it went viral, generating a firestorm of outrage while racking up over a million views.
In the video, the teacher who works at Manatee High School in Bradenton is seen in the TikTok video berating a Hispanic teen to who didn’t get up and stand for the pledge, shouting angrily at the student as he loses his composure in the classroom.
“We defend our country,” he says as the camera begins to roll, “and you are going to sit there on your BUTT?”
He then addressed the student who was shaking his leg, challenging him, ” If you wanna do something, get up and do it. I’ll defend my country ‘til the very end. Then, go back to—where are you from? Mexico? Or Guatemala? Where?”
“I was born here,” the student answered.
Before the video cut off, the adult instructor raged, ”You were born here, and you won’t stand up for the flag?”

The teacher, who has been identified in media reports as Robert Reiber was removed from the classroom after the outburst and “reassigned to a position where he no longer has contact with students, Manatee School District spokesman Michael Barber said in an email according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, adding that “The district’s investigation is ongoing.”
“The School District of Manatee County strongly condemns any language or behavior that degrades, humiliates or insults any individuals – most especially the young people, families, and community we have the privilege of serving,” Barber said.
Twitter users reacted to the incident with mixed feelings.
Hope he didn’t really need that job, or any other teaching job.

When I was a kid, our entire class stood up, faced the flag, put our hands over our hearts and recited the full Pledge of Allegiance every morning. There is absolutely nothing wrong with teaching patriotism and love for one’s country.

Watched the video and doesn’t appear the teacher did anything wrong. It’s definitely not matching up to what was said.

We’ll have emotions & sometimes it runs amok. The immigrant student acted upon his/her emotion. In doing so, he/she broke class’ norm, harmony and acted with disdain to all those who respect this county’s tradition. As a consequence, the teacher lost his temper. 1/2

Such a patriot she forgot it’s a free country

I’m sorry, everyone should stand and recite the pledge. Everyone. Show some respect.

As he should be. I’m all for patriotism but berating someone for their views is exactly what the left does. Why in the hell would you mimic that?

Failed schools.

Disrespecting he American flag used to not be a partisan issue. It only is because dems teach this behavior. The world is moving backwards.
