Air Force woke training backlash not enough to elicit pushback from top brass

Air Force Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Richard Clark briefly addressed reports that the Academy has been supporting various woke programs. His statement Thursday afternoon said that the reports lacked context and asserted that “inclusive language” helps the Air Force produce “more effective warfighting units.”

“The briefing centered on respect for others and the warfighting imperative of leveraging diverse perspectives to solve our nation’s most difficult national security problems. Our strategic competitors are doing the opposite,” said the statement from Clark. “Our American diversity is a strategic advantage and opens the door to creative solutions, providing a competitive edge in air, space and cyberspace.”

As reported this week, the explicit training presentation at the Air Force Academy in Colorado to drop the use of “mom” and “dad’ while using words that “include all genders”  included this directive: “Some families are headed by single parents, grandparents, foster parents, two moms, two dads, etc.: consider ‘parent or caregiver’ instead of ‘mom and dad… Use words that include all genders: ‘Folks’ or ‘Y’all’ instead of ‘guys’; ‘partner’ vs. ‘boyfriend or girlfriend.’”

So, in response to reports on this, we get a bare statement saying that these woke training programs give our military a strategic advantage? Our military leaders are making this claim? Not saying ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ makes us stronger? In what universe?

Other than Clark’s statement, USAF leadership appears to have gone dark rather than responding to requests for comment. Attempts to communicate further with Lt. Gen Clark and also with Secretary Frank Kendall have been unsuccessful. Kendall is formerly a senior fellow at the far left Center for American Progress. You can bet he is informed on the academy’s woke training. How could he not be at least partially behind it?

In 2017, President Trump banned trans soldiers from the military, which the wokesters said at the time was bad for military readiness.

No one ever explains why being woke makes our military stronger. The argument appears to be “it’s true because it’s true.” Support for such claims, in terms of data and morale measurement, is always missing from their statements.

There has been a lot of woke news in the Air Force lately.

The Air Force held their first ever “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summer Festival” in late July, which featured a “family friendly” drag show. They lured kids in with bounce houses and face painting, and then they hit them with perverse prancing and twerking from men pretending to be women. How could that not increase military readiness?

Earlier this month we learned that the Air Force Academy was promoting a fellowship for everyone except cisgender men. Cadets were informed they could apply for the Brooke Owens Fellowship for “undergraduate women and gender minorities interested in aerospace”.
