‘Satanic’: Gavin Newsom shocks with ‘disgusting’ 7-state pro-abortion billboard campaign quoting Jesus

As Californians struggle with soaring inflation, a crippling drought, an affordable housing crisis, rampant drug addiction and homelessness, and the highest gas prices in the nation, Governor Gavin Newsom is busy in other states blaspheming against the words of Jesus Christ in pro-abortion billboards that have Christians from coast to coast beside themselves with righteous fury.

In what is clearly a publicity stunt for the nearly-recalled governor’s passive-aggressive bid for the White House, Newsom took to Twitter to announce a series of billboards “paid for by Newsom for California Governor 2022” that he’s bought in seven “anti-freedom” states that have restricted or banned abortion following the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade.

Not content to make California a baby-killing machine for its own residents, Newsom’s billboards urge out-of-state women to come to the Golden State to end their pregnancies.

Now, that on its own was likely to anger conservatives and Californians alike, but, Newsom being Newsom, the governor had to take it one indefensible step further and quote Jesus Christ in his gruesome invitations.

At the bottom of some of those billboards, Mark 12:31 is quoted: “Love your neighbor as yourself,” implying that Jesus would smile upon Newsom’s efforts to encourage women to kill their babies.

Spoiler: Christians think using the Golden Rule in the Golden State to promote killing babies is “satanic.”

But Newsom either doesn’t care or wasn’t smart enough to anticipate the backlash.

“NEW: Just launched billboards in 7 of the most restrictive anti-abortion states that explain how women can access care–no matter where they live.,” he proudly tweeted. “To any woman seeking an abortion in these anti-freedom states: CA will defend your right to make decisions about your own health.”

He then trolled several GOP governors, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, and Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi, tagging them in with pithy comments such as, “@GovHolcomb the people of Indiana will be seeing these as they drive to work today.”

To Governor Reeves, he said, “the people of Mississippi deserve to know they have access to the care you are refusing to provide. This will be launching in your state today.”

Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law & Justice, called the stunt “disgusting.”

“The idea that Newsom is using the words of Jesus Christ, the Holy Scriptures, to promote the killing of unborn children as somehow loving and commanded by God is quite frankly disgusting,” he said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“This is a blatant, political fundraising ploy to boost his own political profile and presidential aspirations,” he continued. “The people are smarter than that. It just won’t work.”

Roman Catholic priest, Fr. Matthew P. Schneider, agreed.

“I think this has to be one of the worse distortions of a Bible passage I’ve ever seen,” he tweeted. “Shame on @GavinNewsom & his government.”

“The most basic level of loving your neighbor as yourself is not killing your neighbor, yet that’s exactly what abortion does,” the priest added.

An Indiana priest went a step further.

“This is satanic,” Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand tweeted.

It took Catholic Answers, a Catholic media ministry, nine tweets to fully condemn Newsom for having warped the words of Jesus.

“Imagining the devil in his advertising office at the top of the highest skyscraper in hell giggling to himself as @GavinNewsom uses Jesus’ own words to support killing babies,” the group began.

“Notice how the verse ends in ‘these,’ but only lists one commandment,” the group notes. “It’s missing the greatest commandment, from the preceding verse: ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength’ (Mark 12:30).”

“Without this verse to ground it, Mk. 12:31—the second-most important—is ready to be twisted into ‘Kill your baby,'” Catholic Answers continued. “No surprise here. Satan, having no imagination, can only “create” by perverting the good not of his making.”

“Likewise,” the group added, “it seems, for Gavin Newsom.”

Awesome job, Gav. Just… awesome.
