Bill Barr thoroughly schools Fox anchors on Letitia James’ personal ‘political hit job’ against Trump

Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr joined Fox News’ “America Reports” on Wednesday and proceeded to reject the false notion put forth by co-hosts Sandra Smith and John Roberts as to whether he had flip-flopped on his assessment of former President Donald Trump.

While the two anchors seemingly rode on the coattails of CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, who said, “It is amazing that it took so long for someone to hold him responsible,” Barr wouldn’t play into the pair’s attempt at “gotcha” journalism.

The former Trump AG slammed New York AG Letitia James for being nothing more than a hammer in search of a nail.

“Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.”

Such were the words of Lavrentiy Beria, an influential chief in the secret police of Joseph Stalin’s regime, and whose philosophy has been co-opted by the Left in their continued – and so far unsuccessful – attempts to bring down Donald J. Trump.

“Mr. Trump and the Trump Org repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company to pay lower taxes, to satisfy continuing loan agreements, and to induce insurance companies to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and at lower premiums,” James alleged.

“Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself, and cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us,” she said at a news conference Wednesday.

Based on her asinine theories, lenders NEVER conduct their own evaluations before they loan people money.

Barr rebuked James’ machinations against Trump as a “gross overreach” and a “political hit job.”

“This is a woman who campaigned for office promising she was going to go after Trump, which I think is a tremendous abuse of office to go head-hunting and targeting individuals,” he began.

“I’m not even sure she has a good case against Trump himself, but what ultimately persuades me that this is a political hit job is she grossly overreaches when she tries to drag the children into this,” Barr said. “Yes, they had roles in the business, but this was his personal financial statement, prepared by the CFO, accounting firms were involved in it. The children aren’t going to know the details of that, and nor are they expected in the real world to do their own due diligence and have it reviewed independently.”

“I think it will make people sympathetic for Trump, that this is another example of people piling on because of Trump Derangement Syndrome, the strong desire to punish him.”

Smith then prodded, “What would you say to someone, someone watching right now who says it looks like you’re coming to the former President Trump’s defense when many, including The Atlantic, recent write-up saying that you’ve turned on the former president?”

“Well, you know, that’s the way news is covered these days, as if it’s a sporting event, and you know, you’re either wearing this jersey or that jersey,” Barr adroitly observed. “And the jersey, you know, I think, is specific to the facts and the truth in an individual situation.”

He continued while both Smith and Roberts’s facial expressions demonstrated a couple of broadcasters who appeared to be out of their depth.

“The loans were paid back. Those were successful investments and the banks were paid back,” Barr explained. “So, to have spent three years on this seems to me [is] her trying to make good on a campaign promise that she was going to bring Trump down.”

“There are times where people may, you know, be conducting legitimate investigations into some of Trump’s actions, but this isn’t one of them,” said Barr. “And it is simply true that there are a lot of long knives out for him. And, you know, people tend to go after Trump, target him unfairly, apply different standards of justice.”

“When that happens,” Barr concluded, “I think it has to be called out.”

Recall that Fox News’s Sandra Smith was caught off-mic shortly after the 2020 election insisting that because “we called it,” election results in Arizona were no longer up for debate.
