Book claims Fauci mocked ‘a**backwards’ diners who followed policies he himself promoted

In case the Capitol Hill grillings of Dr. Anthony Fauci conducted by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) haven’t thoroughly demonstrated that the outgoing director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) was conveying a very different message to the public than the conversations he was having behind closed doors, a new book may do the trick.

The authors of the book claim the Napoleonic immunologist laughed about Americans following “a**-backwards” policies that he himself promoted.

Brian and Teresa Morgenstern both worked in former President Donald Trump’s administration throughout the tumultuous pandemic with he serving as White House deputy press secretary and she as senior communications advisor for Operation Warp Speed. Now, ahead of the release of their new book “Vignettes & Vino” which offers themed recipes to go with stories from their time in the administration, the New York Post shared a glimpse of their opinion of the “awful” “egomaniac,” Fauci.

Of specific note, the book recounts Mr. Morgenstern sitting in on a meeting following yet another panic-porn satiating remark from the NIAID director where he recommended Americans don goggles in addition to masking after he had famously dismissed the effectiveness of consumer-grade personal protective equipment.

“In January 2020, [Fauci] said the virus was nothing to worry about for the American people,” the author wrote. “Then in the months that followed, he said that people should not wear masks and that they were ineffective. By June or July, he had changed his tune and said everyone should be very concerned and that they should wear multiple masks–and goggles. I vividly recall my blood boiling during an infuriating meeting in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, when Fauci laughed about his own goggles comment, making it clear how cynical he was and that he could get people to believe anything.”

“He went on to laugh about how ‘a**-backwards’ it was that people entered a restaurant wearing a mask,” the book continued, “then sat down and conversed with people without a mask. Of course, he wasn’t saying things to that effect publicly, just laughing privately at the American rubes he was fooling.”

An example of Fauci’s public remarks came during a September 2020 interview with Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show” where he said, “I think because there’s enough movement and people that are usually within six feet that you probably should [wear a mask]. What I do is I put it around my neck, and then I can, you know, eat, drink, and then put it back up when you’re waiting for the waiter or something to occur.”

Of course, Fauci’s hypocrisy had been well-recorded before the interview as all of America saw the doctor hypocritically attend a Washington Nationals baseball game where he was caught with his mask off while many cities across the country were still in draconian lockdowns following the guidelines that he continued to recommend.

Fauci announced his retirement from his lucrative government posting will come at the end of the year, but Republican lawmakers have vowed to investigate the director’s involvement in every facet of the pandemic from its mismanagement and the policies set forth to alleged deals made with pharmaceutical companies while information on viable preventative and outpatient treatments was being suppressed.
