Scared to be an American

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

For the first time in my life, the thought of moving out of the U.S. has invaded my consciousness. Being an American citizen isn’t what it used to be.

Ask Mike Lindell, a man who sells pillows. Lindell was raided by the FBI as he was waiting peacefully in line at a fast-food restaurant in Minnesota. His private property—a cellphone—was seized. Lindell claims that the FBI took away his livelihood by confiscating the phone, which he uses to conduct his multi-million-dollar pillow business.

Lindell has not been accused of a crime, unless you count his support for Donald Trump and his allegation that the 2020 election was rigged. Both of those are considered taboo under the Stalinist rules of the Biden administration. “We are now officially living in a weaponized police state,” said former President Trump in response to the incident.

Trump’s comment is not an exaggeration. Biden has empowered the DOJ and FBI to crush his political opponents. He has compared Americans who disagree with him to racists and terrorists. “The FBI is now an organization solely focused on destroying the domestic enemies of the Democratic Party,” said talk show host Jesse Kelly. At least 35 Trump supporters have been raided by the FBI, in addition to Mr. Trump himself.

As a conservative political commentator, I too have expressed support for Trump and raised serious doubts about the 2020 election. This week, I came under fire from a charter member of Biden’s thought police, Facebook. My article that criticized Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, published on Sept. 3rd, was followed almost immediately by the banishment of my Facebook page with virtually no statement of charges or opportunity to defend myself. Biden has asked the media to censor his political opponents and Facebook has been only too happy to oblige.

Is it unreasonable for me to fear that FBI harassment will be next? Will the feds crack down on my free expression of anti-Biden views? Will my home be raided in the middle of the night and my personal property confiscated without due process?

Biden has compared his political opponents to Al Qaeda on 9-11. In his recent speech, “Biden told us that his program is the only program allowed in this country,” said Tucker Carlson on Fox. “Anyone who has questions about the outcome of the last election isn’t a disgruntled voter, that person is a criminal. This is the language of totalitarianism,” said Carlson. “That is the consensus view in Washington now.” According to Biden’s definition, Mike Lindell and I are criminals. Should I get out before the iron door of Joe Biden’s wrath comes down on my head?

The Stalinist bent of Biden’s federal government is not the only reason for me to think about moving abroad. Our society has been slipping away into anarchy. Violent crime has become the norm in America as Democratic Party politicians call for the defunding of police departments and policies that favor criminals over law-abiding citizens.

“Lawlessness is an overwhelming fact of American life,” said political activist Ralph Nader. “How many times have we been told that our country is under the rule of law? Yet the country’s legal life is defined instead by major zones of lawlessness created by noncompliance and lack of enforcement.” Spineless Democratic mayors, governors, and district attorneys have encouraged lawless notions of the “disband the police” variety.

“Dystopia is a world where the police will not protect you and you are not allowed to protect yourself,” said Tucker Carlson. “That’s the end of civilization. If you think it is confined to Mogadishu, you haven’t been to Chicago lately. Armed robbers suddenly have a right to be on your property. Murderers get out without bail. We are looking at a war on the population.”

“I want to say to people who are living in Democratic cities, GET OUT!” said conservative commentator Candace Owens. “Don’t wait for it to be you. Don’t wait for it to be your child when you get run over. Don’t wait for it to be you that is grabbed into a van and killed. Rescue yourself and get out of these Democratic-controlled cities.”

If we are to regard the U.S. as a civilized nation, our civil society cannot be sacrificed to criminals. When you are afraid to leave your home, when the police are not there to protect you, when your neighbor denounces you to the FBI because you planted a Trump sign in your front yard, you will be forced to question what it means to be an American.
