Ted Lieu calls for Gaetz to be booted from Judiciary Committee over WaPo hit piece

Facing the very real prospect that they will lose control of the House in the upcoming midterm elections, some Democrat lawmakers are engaging in petty reprisals, one of which is Rep. Ted Lieu who used a Washington Post report as the basis to call for his GOP colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz to be removed from the Judiciary Committee.

Gaetz, an unapologetic Florida firebrand and loyal ally of former President Donald J. Trump, has been the focus of a Justice Department sex trafficking case reportedly launched when Trump was still in office after being accused of sex-trafficking a 17-year-old female – a charge the congressman denies. On Saturday, the GOP lawmaker was the subject of WaPo story alleging that he sought a preemptive pardon from the White House.

Lieu, an unhinged Democrat Twitter addict from California whose district includes parts of swanky Beverly Hills, took to his favorite platform to demand Gaetz’s removal from the powerful committee, claiming that the Washington Post hit piece is sufficient reason for the Republican to be ousted without the benefit of due process, further claiming his continued presence constituted a conflict of interest.

“GOP Rep Matt Gaetz is entitled to the presumption of innocence. He is not entitled to sit on the Judiciary Committee that has oversight over the Department of Justice that is investigating him for sex crimes. A conflict of interest. @GOPLeader must remove him from the Committee,” Lieu wrote.

For the record, he did not similarly demand that his fellow Californian, the gaseous Rep. Eric Swalwell be removed from the House Intelligence Committee after it was revealed that he had engaged in a relationship – one that possibly included pillow talk – with female Chinese espionage agent Christine Fang aka Fang Fang, a revelation that many felt that due to his privileged position could have have constituted a threat to national security, obviously Lieu was not among them.

According to the story by Jacqueline Alemany and Amy Gardner former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office Johnny McEntee sang to investigators of the so-called January 6 “insurrection” that Gaetz was seeking a pardon from the outgoing POTUS.

“Johnny McEntee, according to people familiar with his testimony, told investigators that Gaetz told him during a brief meeting ‘that they are launching an investigation into him or that there’s an investigation into him,’ without specifying who was investigating Gaetz,” the WaPo reported. “McEntee added that Gaetz told him ‘he did not do anything wrong but they are trying to make his life hell, and you know, if the president could give him a pardon, that would be great. Gaetz told McEntee that he had asked White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows for a pardon.”

According to the reporting, which was based on the standard “people familiar with the testimony who spoke on the condition of anonymity,” McEntee was asked by investigators whether Gaetz’s alleged request for a pardon was related to the DOJ probe into the sex trafficking matters. “I think that was the context, yes,” he said.

No charges have been filed against Gaetz, but that didn’t deter Lieu’s fellow habitual Twitter trolls who pounced on the Washington Post story as proof that the walls are closing in around him.

“The only reason Matt Gaetz wanted a pardon for being a sex trafficking pedophile is because he’s a sex trafficking pedophile,” crowed corpulent leftist actor/director Rob Reiner whose main claim to fame was playing Archie Bunker’s pinko son-in-law Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the classic sitcom “All in the Family” back in the 1970s.

Attention starved failed pillow entrepreneur David Hogg tweeted, “Matt Gaetz claims he’s not a child sex trafficker. Matt Gaetz also happened to ask for a pardon for child sex trafficking. You know- just like all people who haven’t committed acts of child sex trafficking do.”

Other Resistance cranks of lesser stature also piled on after the WaPo story broke,

Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy did not respond to Lieu who could end up being stripped of his own committee assignments if the lower chamber changes hands as many are expecting.
