A Chick-fil-A worker is being hailed as a hero after he thwarted an attempted carjacking at one of the popular fast food chain’s locations in the Florida Panhandle, intervening to rescue a woman with a baby after a man grabbed her keys and got inside of her vehicle.
The action went down on Wednesday at a restaurant in Fort Walton Beach when the man who has been identified as 43-year-old William Branch of DeFuniak Springs approached the woman and her infant, brandishing a stick as a weapon and demanding her keys.
After grabbing the keys from her waistband, Branch then got inside of the vehicle as the victim screamed for help but had his getaway interrupted by Mykel Gordon who flew into action and, despite being punched by the perpetrator, was able to foil the attempt to steal the vehicle.
The dramatic scene was captured on video as Gordon took Branch to the ground where the two scuffled with the Chick-fil-A worker being able to get the car thief into a headlock as other employees rushed to subdue the assailant until police arrived on the scene.
In reference to the FWB Chick-fil-A employee who ran to help a woman with a baby who was being carjacked, we want to say a sincere thank you to Ms. Kelner for providing video of a portion of the encounter. Twitter reacted to Gordon’s heroic intervention.
In California, people run away from criminals and let others be victimized.
In Florida, Chick-fil-A employees put criminals in a headlock. https://t.co/mc71g8fpbV

This is great. Bravo young man. So refreshing to see a someone rushing in to help others rather than the typical useless humans who film the crime and then walk away doing nothing
