CNN takes heat after calling William and Kate ‘other two royals’ while gushing over Meghan and Harry

The media’s obsession with liberal celebrities was on depraved display Saturday as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren paid their respects leading one CNN correspondent to reference successors to the throne as “the other two royals.”

Well-wishers gathered outside Windsor Castle to express themselves at the passing of Her Majesty where they were greeted by the newly crowned King Charles III as well as his sons and daughters-in-law. The manner in which CNN international correspondent Scott McLean referenced the pair of couples spoke volumes to sensationalism the outlet wished to convey.

Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and actress wife Meghan Markle, left the United Kingdom and royalty behind to live in California, Saturday was their first public appearance with the newly dubbed Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate. That didn’t stop McLean from placing William, successor to his father, second fiddle to the controversial couple as they went on a walkabout.

“You can see Harry get out first and then you saw Meghan and then the other two royals as well,” he said, snubbing the likely future King and Queen as merely “the other two royals.”

McLean and his network were swiftly rebuked for, at the very least, not preparing to cover the proceedings well enough to know the names of William and Kate if they had been forgotten by the fawning correspondent and, at the worst, for showing a complete lack of respect.

“How Disrespectful Is He, He’s Talking about our New Prince and Princess of Wales, they are NOT THE OTHER TWO. It Should be Prince William and Princess Catherine along with Harry and Meghan, they decided to Leave Our Royal Family to Live in America,” one social media user wrote joined by a chorus of others.

As previously reported, with King Charles III taking the throne, he offered up his first speech as monarch where he recognized his son William and daughter-in-law Kate as the new Prince and Princess of Wales. However, he made only a passing mention of the other couple without reference to title, “I want to also express my love for Harry and Meghan, as they continue to build their lives overseas.”

Unlike McLean, the new king was seemingly following protocol with the manner that he addressed his children and, as the Daily Mail reported, he may have been wholly responsible for Harry and Meghan’s inclusion in the meet and greet that took place outside Windsor Castle.

A source from within Kensington Palace explained, “The Prince of Wales invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier,” and that “The Prince of Wales thought it was an important show of unity for the Queen at an incredibly difficult time for the family.”

That decision was only made after William had concluded a phone call with King Charles III who may have ordered his sons to get along, according to reports.

Omid Scobie, a journalist and friend of Harry and Meghan posted to Twitter, “The Waleses had always been scheduled to greet well-wishers at Windsor Castle, but royal sources say the decision to invite the Sussexes was made in the eleventh hour. It is, without a doubt, a significant moment in the history of the relationship between the two brothers.”

Whatever the case may be, the pair of couples appeared cordial and expressed warmth to the crowds as they shared in paying respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
