Hugh Hewitt: Biden’s had a ‘disastrous start to Labor Day campaign … face plant after face plant’

Political commentator and talk show host Hugh Hewitt appeared as part of a panel on Fox News’s “Special Report” Monday, and when prompted by host Bret Baier, he offered his opinion on the state of President Joe Biden’s regime as it stands after the Labor Day weekend and heading into the 2022 midterms in November.

Baier played a clip of the septuagenarian president yelling and pointing his finger at no one – as is his custom – during a campaign stop in Wisconsin Monday where he once again railed against Republicans writ large in a testy speech he will likely not remember and which will predictably be walked back by his handlers as soon as he is safely napping in the Executive Residence.

Hewitt said of the administration’s tactics, “I think it’s face-plant after face-plant, Bret. We go back to the ‘semi-fascist’ slur.”

“Then we go forward to the student loan bailout, and then we go forward to the red setting, the red wedding speech, which was much panned by everyone who was objective about it, and today you have the Wisconsin Democratic senator candidate not showing up with the president like Tim Ryan in Ohio.”

“They don’t want to be anywhere near him [Biden]. He’s got 38 percent approval. It’s falling. He can always get a crowd, he’s president of the United States. People want to see him, even people who don’t like him, but some union guys will show up.”

Hewitt continued, “I think it’s been a disastrous start to the Labor Day campaign, and we’ll talk later in specific races, but right now you’d rather have the Republican cards than the Democratic cards, and you’d rather be led by Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy than Joe Biden.”

Former State Department spokeswoman and co-panelist Morgan Ortagus added to the short discussion, saying the Biden regime has made “a calculated decision to motivate by hate.”

Referring to a recent post by Trump on Truth Social in which he called out the FBI and DOJ, Ortagus said, “It’s clear that the Biden team tries to use those type of statements and to do whatever they can to attach President Trump to the midterms.”

“That’s the whole strategy. But I think what we have to focus more on is the speech that Hugh just talked about, and how the president and his team have made a calculated decision to motivate by hate.”

“They have made a calculated decision to divide this country, to call so many people who voted for President Trump a threat to the Republic,” she declared.

“Just look at the members of the military. Most of the members of the military probably are registered Republicans who probably voted for Trump. Are you trying to say that people who sign up to give their lives for this country are a threat to the Republic? It was one of the most insulting and demonizing things that I have ever seen a president do to half the country, and I find it to be very chilling.”

Ortagus concluded, “If this is how they have to motivate their base because 70 percent disapprove of the country, we are in for dark, dark days from the Biden Administration.”
