Grand Theft Auto comes to life: Bold crooks ram SUV on NYC street, smash window with gun to steal $20K

Welcome to New York City, a liberal “utopia” as out of control as Liberty City, the fictional town featured in the video game “Grand Theft Auto.”

While crime happens in NYC virtually all the time, much like in “GTA,” the latest crime caught on camera really takes the cake — so much so that critics say it’s as if the crime in question was taken straight out of “Grand Theft Auto.”

Seen below, the crime began around 4:40 pm Saturday afternoon in Manhattan with a black Mercedes-Benz chasing after a silver Toyota Rav-4:

“Witness video shows the Mercedes catch up to the Toyota, crashing into the car and causing it to spin out. The Mercedes driver then steps on the gas and pushes the other car up onto the sidewalk,” according to local station WNBC.

“The Toyota driver is able to accelerate and get back onto the roadway, but is chased down a second time by the Mercedes driver who rams into the car, sending it spinning out once again, the video shows.”

A passenger then jumps out of the Mercedes, prompting a bystander to start yelling, “He’s got a gun!”

The passenger then runs over to the Toyota, bashes in the window, and reportedly steals $20,000 in cash, after which he jumps back in the Benz and it speeds off.

“NYPD officials said the armed robbers ditched their ride a handful of blocks away. There were no reports of any injuries,” WNBC notes.

The victim, who reportedly exited the Toyota after the Benz had pinned it, was reportedly left shocked.

“The guy was in shock — he cannot say nothing. He was just standing in his place. At first when, when he saw the gun… He got out and he put his hands up,” a witness told the Daily Mail.

As of Sunday morning, the authorities were still investigating the incident — not to mention the countless other crimes that had been committed Saturday in the liberal “utopia.” Or, in one case, almost committed:

As reported by the American Wire, a serial groper was about to grope his 5th victim Saturday in New York City when the authorities caught up to him just in time.

The perpetrator, Damian Baeza Rendon, is now “facing charges on four assaults, including a case in June in which he licked his victim’s breast and in another when he pulled down a woman’s pants,” the New York Post reported.

The incident in June was particularly nasty.

“It was June 28 when the accused came up from behind a 22-year-old woman walking eastbound on East 89th Street, pulled her blouse down off her shoulders and placed his mouth on her left breast before running off, police said. The victim declined medical attention,” according to the Post.

NYC has faced an endless wave of crime ever since the state enacted a radical bail law that made it near impossible to hold most offenders behind bars while they await trial/sentencing.

It hasn’t helped that the city is stocked with left-wing prosecutors who believe in going soft on crime.

The problem is that Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, refuses to nix the bail law. She did admittedly “reform” it last spring, but as noted by the New York Post’s editorial board in an op-ed published Wednesday, the “reforms” aren’t good enough.

“Sorry, gov: Those ‘fixes’ don’t do much: New York’s laws still force judges to free defendants charged with a wide variety of crimes entirely bail free, thanks to the 2019 ‘reforms.’ Judges can require bail for more serious crimes, but even then they must set the “least restrictive” terms for release and ensure defendants can afford the bail amounts,” the board wrote.

“Plus, unlike judges in every other state, New York judges can never consider the threat to public safety in deciding whether to release even a perp accused of a horrific crime. They can try to set bail high enough to make sure a wild, murderous maniac isn’t readily cut loose, but, as the OCA notes, they must justify such action by ruling that the defendant wouldn’t likely return to court otherwise.”

Indeed, even with the “reforms” from Hochul, countless dangerous criminals continue to be released back onto the streets.

For instance, about a week ago, 28-year-old Jesus Ramirez stabbed to death 48-year-old Guarionex Torres during a fight outside the city’s Port Authority subway. A day later, he was back on the streets after paying a measly $10,000 of a $100,000 bail.

The Post argues the bail should have been much higher and would indeed have been had it not been for the bail law.

“In theory, the bail-reform amendments passed this year should have allowed the judge in Ramirez’s case to consider, in setting bail, whether his conduct caused serious harm to someone else. That’s what Gov. Kathy Hochul claimed earlier this month. …,” the Post reported.

“But the state Office of Court Administration, asked about the case, asserted that bail still ‘is solely meant to ensure the defendant’s return to court. Nothing else.'”

And that’s why his bail was so low …
