Green New Madness will kill the US economy

President Biden has surrendered to the anti-fossil fuel agenda of the left wing of the Democratic Party. This agenda is predicated on the argument that we must curtail the human-generated release of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere in order to solve the planet’s number one threat, man-made global warming. This can be accomplished, they tell us, by eliminating our dependence on fossil fuels—oil, gas, and coal.

President Obama set this agenda in motion. “I am convinced,” he said, “that no challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change.” Phony climate experts such as Al Gore, John Kerry, and the unelected bureaucrats at the United Nations have spread the fear that oceans will rise and massive heat waves will kill millions. None of their frightening predictions has materialized.

In fact, the entire global warming agenda is a hoax. In support of this conclusion is the Global Warming Petition Project, in which 31,000 scientists concluded that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”

John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, is one of many skeptics who contradict the validity of the green hypothesis. “There is no significant man-made global warming at this time,” said Coleman, “there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future.” Climate change is recognized as a natural phenomenon. “Climate changes all the time,” said physicist and Nobel laureate Ivar Giaever, “and it’s nothing to do with global warming.”

President Trump understood this and took the U.S. out of the Paris Accords. Why have the Obama and Biden administrations tried so hard to shove this nonsense down our throats? The answer is that alarmism over climate is being used to justify their appetite for greater government control. “The government scares people into thinking that the end is nigh,” the Federalist Papers Project explained, “and that the only way to turn it around is to cede control to the federal government and allow them to force their economy-killing policies on business.”

Mark Levin sums it up in Plunder and Deceit: “The politicization and radicalization of the environmental movement into a primitive, degrowth, anti-capitalism movement directly threatens two centuries of human progress and the unparalleled American lifestyle. Its campaign to undo the Industrial Revolution and blunt the modern technological revolution will result in economic contraction while further empowering the federal government’s grip on daily human activity. The so-called Green Movement is, in fact, an anti-liberty and anti-opportunity movement aimed at changing the nation in ways that will deprive younger people and future generations of their full potential.”

The consequence for the U.S. of adopting “green” policies is economic death. “The Green New Deal means poverty,” said Tucker Carlson on August 29. “The status quo will crumble. Factories will close. Unemployment will rise. Disposable income will disappear.”

We should focus on three indisputable facts: (1) human beings are incapable of controlling the climate; (2) our economy is dependent on fossil fuels; and (3) fossil fuel alternatives do not exist, and will not exist in the foreseeable future. Next we should pay attention to what is happening across the Atlantic. Addressing a 2018 meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, President Donald Trump warned that European countries, especially Germany, are headed for disaster if they continue to move away from fossil fuels. Trump was right on target.

A video of Trump’s speech shows the German delegation laughing at his remarks. “They are not laughing anymore,” said Tucker Carlson on August 29. “Europe is getting much poorer very quickly. Desperate Germans are scouring the forests for wood,” Carlson explained. “The French government has announced energy rationing.” Why? The abandonment of fossil fuels has created an energy shortage. “Energy costs in Europe are expected to increase by hundreds of percent,” said Carlson. “The World Economic Forum claimed that Europe could save one trillion in fossil fuel costs by switching to renewables. They had no clue what they were talking about. Green energy cannot replace fossil fuels.”

The vibrant economy that Trump gave us has disappeared. “We were energy independent 15 months ago,” said Mark Levin. “Now we’re begging Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for oil. Joe Biden did that.” The U.S. is beginning to follow the experience of Europe as inflation drives up gas and home heating prices. What is the cause? “Biden attacked the energy industry,” said Bill O’Reilly. “He did it in the name of global warming. Harvesting of fuel was cut back drastically and that caused the price of oil worldwide to rise, and that caused the price of gas at the pump to rise, and that lit inflation, as all other goods went up in price as well because they are all trucked to the stores and businesses. That is all on President Biden. He didn’t have to attack the fossil fuel industry.’

Even electric vehicle pioneer Elon Musk is calling for more drilling and exploration of fossil fuel resources in the immediate future, warning that humanity could be in trouble if the transition to lower-carbon energy sources is rushed. “Realistically, I think we need to use oil and gas in the short term, because otherwise civilization will crumble,” the Tesla CEO said.

If Biden gets away with his green policy, it will play right into Obama’s socialist dream of fundamentally transforming America. Under the guise of responding to climate change, the Left wants to take what we have and redistribute it to the Third World even if it means crippling the U.S. economy. Climate Change Business Journal quantified the cost to the U.S. of the green agenda at a whopping $1.5 trillion per year. And what do we get for this waste of time, money, and effort? Danish environmentalist Bjorn Lomborg calculates that even if every nation in the world adheres to its climate change commitments—which they won’t, by the end of the century it will reduce the world’s temperatures by a mere 1/20th of a degree. Hardly worth the effort.
