Wild surveillance video shows ‘flash mob’ of looters swarming Los Angeles 7-Eleven

A large “flash mob” of lawless looters were caught on video as they swarmed a Los Angeles 7-Eleven convenience store earlier this week, yet another example of the hellish dystopia that the City of Angels has become under Democrat rule.

The incident went down on Monday at the location near Figueroa Street and El Segundo Boulevard where a “street takeover” had been initiated, surveillance video captured the overwhelmed clerk standing by helplessly as a horde of people filed into the store and began helping themselves to items on the shelves including candy, chips, drinks and other merchandise, clearly unafraid of being caught.

While the store was being ransacked, some soon moved behind the counter and began pilfering cigarettes and lottery tickets after employees had retreated to safety, the video of the 7-Eleven invasion was posted by the Los Angeles Police Department which is investigating the shutdown of the streets as well as the looting.

The video has gone viral and must be seen to be believed.

According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, “On August 15, 2022, around 12:40 a.m., a street takeover initiated at the intersection of Figueroa Street and El Segundo Boulevard. Motorists flooded the intersection and blocked traffic with their vehicles from all directions to create a ‘pit’ in the middle of the intersection. During the incident, spectators exited their vehicles and watched as motorists recklessly drove in a maneuver known as ‘doing donuts.’ The maneuver involves purposely losing tire traction while driving in a circular motion and continuing to accelerate. This results in a series of skid marks left on the pavement.”

“The spectators then formed a ‘flash mob’ of looters and rushed a nearby 7-Eleven located at the northwest corner of Figueroa Street and El Segundo Boulevard. Video surveillance from the store showed the looters fanning out across the store and grabbing all the snacks, drinks, cigarettes, lotto tickets, and other merchandise. Looters also vandalized the store and threw merchandise at employees. The looters then exited the store to the surrounding parking lots and streets, and quickly dispersed before police arrived,” the police statement read.

“The term ‘flash mob’ was first used to describe a large public gathering at which people perform an unusual or seemingly random act and then disperse, typically organized by means of the internet or social media. In the latest cases, however, ‘flash mobs’ have turned from fun spontaneous events to opportunistic criminal occurrences,” the LAPD said. “Officers obtained surveillance video of the looters to identify and the (sic) arrest the individuals involved.”

Ironically, the incident took place on the day that embattled Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón survived a recall effort when nearly 200,000 signatures were disqualified, a stunning development in the second failed attempt to remove the soft-on-crime, George Soros-backed progressive official who has presided over the deterioration of what was once one of the nation’s greatest cities.

Gascón took to Twitter to gloat after dodging the bullet, writing, “Grateful to move forward from this attempted political power grab-rest assured LA County, the work hasn’t stopped.”

“My primary focus has been & will always be keeping us safe & creating a more equitable justice system for all,” he wrote. “I remain strongly committed to that work & to you”

There is an ongoing exodus of businesses from Democrat-controlled cities that have become safe spaces for criminals and a recent study by the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California Berkeley showed that downtown activity in multiple blue cities has dropped as workers, tourists and homeowners are staying away out of fear for their safety.

“San Francisco’s downtown area was found to be only 31 percent active over the spring of 2022 when compared to pre-pandemic levels, with Cleveland at 36 percent and Portland at 41 percent,” according to a Daily Mail report on the study.
