Trump sees MEGA donation bump following Mar-a-Lago raid

According to two Washington Post reporters who cited anonymous sources, former President Donald Trump’s political action committee is rolling in dough following the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate.

The Wednesday report comes courtesy of “two people familiar with the figures,” and alleges that the “Save America” PAC has seen an exponential growth of donations and managed to pull in $1 million in just a couple of days since the raid was made public.

“The daily hauls jumped from a level of $200,000 to $300,000 that had been typical in recent months,” wrote the Post, citing the nameless sources. They would go on to claim that the abnormally high donations continued for several days, but began to level off recently. It was noted that there were actually more donations than usual, perhaps showing a growing number of people sympathizing with what many have called a political attack on a potential presidential opponent from President Joe Biden’s administration.

The money couldn’t come at a better time as Trump continues to contemplate an early announcement for a potential 2024 presidential run. It’s also an indication that as much as Democrats would like to believe Trump’s influence and popularity are diminishing, he still remains firmly at the head of the Republican Party.

While it may be confusing to some how a raid by the FBI can increase political donations, Jessica Baldwin-Philippi, a Fordham University professor, explains that “losing” can be a very practical fundraising strategy.

“Trump as a candidate and fundraiser has always had an impressively dedicated set of constituents who are particularly mobilized by anger,” she said. “A threat, a negative, a time when you lose, can actually be lucrative.”

According to the report, Trump sent over 100 emails following the raid on his estate, a move that likely paid off given the dramatic increase of donations. It remains to be seen, however, if Trump can keep that momentum going into 2024.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle, Democrats wrestle with the idea of Biden running for a second term as his age and health become a concern among his ideological peers.

As BizPac Review previously reported, a number of Democrats have blatantly refused to throw their support behind Biden, and are instead looking toward a “new generation of leadership.”

Even if they can’t quite define who or what that looks like:

Fellow Minnesotan Rep. Angie Craig was also asked about support for a Biden run in 2024 and stated that the Democratic Party needs a “new generation of leadership.”

“I’m going to do everything in my power as a member of Congress to make sure that we have a new generation of leadership,” she vowed.

“Many Minnesotans, myself included, are ready to see a new generation of leaders in the Democratic Party, and I will do everything in my power to help those new leaders up and down the ballot,” Craig said in a statement to Fox News.
