Shocking courtroom moment: Alex Jones’ lawyer ‘accidentally’ gave attorney for Sandy Hook parents the entire contents of his phone

The defamation trial of Alex Jones over claims that he made about the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary school took a twist so bizarre that even Hollywood couldn’t make it up when the bombastic filmmaker and internet personality had the news sprung on him that he had been massively screwed by his own legal team.

Jones, who was already facing an uphill courtroom battle against a hostile judge and a media that has been clamoring for his head on a pike was stunned when he learned that it was his own counsel that gave his adversaries a cache of potential evidence that could end up costing him dearly – the entire contents of his phone.

Lawyer Mark Bankston who is representing the parents of the victims yanked the rug out from under Jones when he divulged the inexplicable blunder by his legal team, a digital copy of every text message that he had sent for the last two years, throwing open a Pandora’s box of legal problems for the Infowars founder who, according to Bankston, previously testified that he didn’t have any texts pertaining to Sandy Hook.

“So you did get my text messages?” Jones asked while being cross-examined in an Austin, Texas courtroom on Wednesday. “You said you didn’t. Nice trick.”

“Yes Mr. Jones, indeed, “the chuckling Bankston said, “You didn’t give those text messages to me, you don’t know where this came from, do you know where I got this?”

“No,” said the flummoxed Jones.

“Mr. Jones, did you know that 12 days ago your attorneys messed up and sent me an entire digital copy of your entire cell phone with every text message you’ve sent for the past two years?” Bankston asked.

“And when informed, did not take any steps to identify it as privileged, or protect it in any way and as of two days ago, it fell free and clear into my possession and that is how I know you lied to me when you said you didn’t have text messages against Sandy Hook,” a triumphant Bankston said as he pointed his finger at Jones.

Jones responded, “See, I told you the truth, this is your Perry Mason moment, I gave them my phone and…”

“Mr. Jones, you need to answer the question,” interjected Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, “just answer the question.”

Bankston continued, “You said in your deposition, you searched your phone. You said you pulled down the texts, did the search function for Sandy Hook, that’s what you said Mr. Jones correct?”

After the two engaged in some back and forth, Bankston asked, “You know what perjury is right?”

“If I was mistaken, I was mistaken, but you’ve got the messages right there,” Jones added. “I’m not a tech guy. I told you I gave, in my testimony, the phone to the lawyers before or whatever, and so you got my phone, but we didn’t give it to you.”

Twitter reacted to the shocking turn of events.

Jones’ legal problems could soon get exponentially worse thanks to his own lawyers who just gave his enemies the knife to cut his throat with and served it up on a silver platter.

Or… did someone say “mistrial?”
