CNN Chief Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin promoted the further persecution of former President Trump once again, stating that the federal grand jury subpoenas of two former White House officials show the DOJ is serious about Jan. 6.

In what has become possibly the longest-running nothing burger in politics, Toobin promoted the fantasy that the Jan. 6 committee was on the cusp of taking down Trump. For realsies this time.
White House Counsel Pat Cipollone and former Deputy White House Counsel Patrick Philbin have been subpoenaed by a grand jury, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper breathlessly reported on Wednesday.
It’s a development that sounds serious but almost certainly will not result in an indictment.
The partisan Department of Justice appears to be investigating the part that Trump and his team played in the Jan. 6 riot in 2021. Beating a proverbial dead horse, the left continues to make the baseless claim that the former president urged a mob to march to the Capitol, who then stormed the building in an attempt to delay the certification of the 2020 election.
“What does it say about where federal government, where the Department of Justice is on this?” Anderson Cooper asked Toobin, laying the groundwork for the leftist fantasy that the Department of Justice is finally going to nail Trump.

“Yeah, this is a really big deal, the change in the Justice Department investigation,” Toobin responded. “Remember, there was criticism for months and months that the Justice Department was simply prosecuting the people who were trespassing in the Capitol, hundreds of people, but essentially all low-level people. Now it’s 100% clear that this is an investigation inside the Oval Office of Donald Trump. Whether that leads to an indictment, I certainly don’t know.”
It should be noted that almost every time there has been even the slightest hint that Trump would be implicated in the riot, Toobin has called it a really big deal.
Cooper did his best to make the development sound huge in its reach and severity. He asked if the DOJ had enough resources to expand its probe.
“I know [Attorney General Merrick] Garland said this is like the biggest thing the Department of Justice has ever done,” Cooper excitedly stated.

“It’s really just an amazing demand on the Justice Department,” Toobin replied, playing into the wishful thinking of the left while praising the persecution of the Jan. 6 protesters. “They have brought prosecutors in from around the country. I mean, remember, you’re talking about almost a thousand cases just at the Capitol alone, bringing people in the grand jury when there’s a pandemic and people can’t sit next to each other in normal circumstances, it’s very challenging. But the Justice Department has done an amazing job with the Capitol rioters.”
“Let’s see what they can do with the Oval Office,” he concluded, making it obvious that the media, Democrats, and the Biden administration will do virtually anything they can to stop Trump from running for and winning reelection in 2024.
