Fox News responds after fuming Jon Stewart claimed network refused him airtime for veterans’ bill

Comedian Jon Stewart made the media rounds on Thursday, appearing on CNN, Newsmax and MSNBC and slinging F-bombs while making it a point to note that Fox News allegedly refused to have him on the air.

The former host of “The Daily Show” described his recent trip to D.C. in which he visited the offices of several Senate Republicans to ask why they voted “No” on the PACT Act, which cleared the House and, if ultimately passed, would enhance benefits for U.S. servicemembers exposed to toxic chemicals from burn pits abroad.

But Stewart wanted to know why there were eight Republicans who voted against it.

“America’s heroes, who fought in our wars outside sweating their asses off, while these motherf***ers sit in the air conditioning, walled off from any of it,” he told Jake Tapper on CNN’s “The Lead.”

“So we are in the building, we start going to offices, and God bless the assistants. Because they’re the ones who have to cover for the cowardice of their bosses,” he said.

“And by the way, when we walk into the offices, they’re on the phone with people, Stewart recalled. “The first office we went into was Marshall’s of Kansas. So we finally get one of his legislative people to come out.”

Stewart said one aide to Marshall told him, “You know that Sen. Marshall was one of the first supporters of this,” and Stewart replied, “Great, why did he turn it down?”

Apparently, the aide told him there was a budget issue that needed to be fixed in the legislation.

“What’s the budget issue? Because he voted yes when that budget issue was in it the first time,” he recalled asking the aide.

“What are you f*****g talking about? Seriously!” he said to Tapper, remembering the experience.

He fumed, “Do they understand that… there are real people who face tragic consequences for their parliamentary fu**ery?”

Stewart’s video appearance on MSNBC was similar in tone but with no F-bombs.

“On Monday, Chuck Schumer says he’s gonna hold another vote on this bill,” host Mehdi Hasan told Stewart.

“Do you think it will pass on Monday, and if it doesn’t, will the Republican Party that claims to be the party of the flag, of the military, will it suffer any political consequences for this outrageous vote?” he asked.

“Well, isn’t that the issue?” replied Stewart. “Look, you and I can talk about ’til we’re blue in the face. They’re never gonna hear this. There’s an information silo. I was lucky enough to be able to get a hold of the Newsmax this morning and go on there. Might’ve been the first time those viewers had ever heard about it.”

“Fox News, they’ve refused to put me on all day. We’ve been begging them to get on the air all day long so that we can finally bring along some possible accountability to these senators – by the way, most of whom voted for the bill, and then turned around and voted against it, even though there was no material change,” Stewart claimed.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. Nobody on the Hill has ever seen anything like it. And the truth is, the people who’ve suffered the most and had to fight the hardest are the ones who will once again bear the brunt of this betrayal.”

Stewart argued that claims made by Republicans about wokeness negatively affecting military recruitment goals are false.

“And you know they keep talking about, ‘Boy there’s a recruitment problem in the army because of the pronouns they’re using.’ It’s not the pronouns. It’s that young people see that this government doesn’t live up to its obligations to its fighters. It’s as simple as that,” he contended.

UPDATE: Fox News has released a statement saying they plan to have Jon Stewart on the air Friday.

“We have welcomed Jon Stewart on our programs many times to spotlight his critical work with veterans and 9/11 first responders and look forward to having him on America’s Newsroom today at 10:30 AM.”
