‘Highly credible’ whistleblowers exposing widespread FBI, DoJ coverup for Hunter Biden

GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley claims he has “highly credible” whistleblowers from within the DOJ that are ready to blow the lid off the FBI and Justice Department burying information on Hunter Biden.

Grassley (R-Iowa) says there is a widespread effort within the FBI to downplay or discredit negative information concerning the president’s son, according to letters reviewed by CBS News.

He wants to know why the Department of Justice and the FBI pursued “politically charged investigations” related to the Trump campaign while suppressing key details related to the Hunter Biden probe as “disinformation.”

“The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation,” Grassley wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 25. “The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter.”

Grassley is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He claims those stepping forward contend that legitimate streams of information and intelligence concerning Hunter Biden were portrayed as likely disinformation or quashed leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

CBS News reported in April that over 150 financial transactions involving either Hunter or James Biden’s shady global business affairs were flagged by U.S. banks for further review. The U.S. attorney in Delaware has been investigating potential tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign influence peddling in connection to Hunter Biden.

President Biden has repeatedly claimed that he has had no involvement in the business dealings of his son and brother.

Grassley cited a 2020 FBI intelligence assessment in his letter that was “used by an FBI headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation.”

“Based on allegations, verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation,” he added.

A month before the 2020 presidential election, “an avenue of derogatory Hunter Biden reporting was ordered closed” by a senior FBI agent at the bureau’s Washington Field office. An earlier letter sent by Grassley identified the agent as Timothy Thibault.

“[T]he allegations provided to my office appear to indicate that there was a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation,” Grassley asserted.

Following a letter that Grassley wrote on May 31, he noted that whistleblowers from federal law enforcement approached him. His correspondence had highlighted a “pattern of active public partisanship in his then public social media content,” concerning Thibault.

In that letter, Grassley accused Thibault of potential violations of “[f]ederal laws, regulations, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) guidelines.”

“Whistleblowers have reported to me, that although the FBI and Justice Department maintain policies dictating specific standards requiring substantial factual predication to initiate an investigation, Thibault and other Justice Department and FBI employees failed to comply with these requirements,” he wrote.

“In fact, the information I have received reveals that Thibault’s political partisanship went much deeper than the inappropriate social media posts. Instead, it impacted his official decision-making on sensitive public corruption investigations,” wrote Grassley. “Equally concerning is that, based on Justice Department and FBI policies, Thibault’s partisanship likely affected investigations briefed to, and approved by, senior Justice Department and FBI officials.”

“The double standard in the application of Justice Department and FBI policies has resulted in investigations opened in a manner appearing to benefit the political aims and objectives of a select few Justice Department and FBI officials. Further, it is my understanding from whistleblowers that when FBI agents sought a uniform and consistent application of these standards, their concerns were marginalized or otherwise not acted upon,” he commented.

Grassley also took aim at Justice Department official Richard Pilger in his letter. He was identified as the director of the Election Crimes Branch within the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section. Along with Thibault, he was alleged to be “deeply involved in the decisions to open and pursue this investigation.”

Grassley told both Wray and Garland “the opening memo you approved” included media reports that cited research from a “liberal non-profit” when a full investigation would require “a heightened factual basis.”

“In light of these allegations, I remain very concerned that political bias by a select group of Justice Department and FBI officials has infected the Justice Department’s and FBI’s usual process and procedure to open and pursue high-profile and politically charged investigations,” he charged.

“Attorney General Garland and Director Wray, simply put, based on the allegations that I’ve received from numerous whistleblowers, you have systemic and existential problems within your agencies,” Grassley stated. “You have an obligation to the country to take these allegations seriously, immediately investigate.”

Grassley has requested records on the subject matter from the FBI and the Justice Department by Aug. 8.

Both agencies are declining to comment so far, according to CBS News.
