Rubio schools ‘Marxist misfit’ Pete Buttigieg on state and federal roles in same-sex marriage feud

Sen. Marco Rubio slammed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, asserting that he is working for the agenda of “Marxist misfits” while calling legislation protecting same-sex marriage a “stupid waste of time.”

After Buttiegieg took a swipe at Rubio on Sunday over his opposition to codifying gay marriage, Rubio knocked him out cold with a video on Twitter mocking him for telling Americans suffering under crushing inflation and high gas prices to solve the problem by buying exorbitantly priced electric cars.

“Working Americans, of every background, struggle with real problems like gas prices & flight cancellations. But we have a Transportation Secretary who wants us to focus on a fake problem & who went to Harvard but apparently doesn’t know the difference between state & federal issues,” Rubio tweeted.

“We have a transportation secretary named Pete Buttigieg who believes that highways can be racist; who believes that $5 gas—which is killing working Americans—is a great thing because that means people are gonna drive less, or because everyone is now gonna go out and buy a $65,000 electric car with a Chinese battery in it,” Rubio sarcastically noted.

“I’m gonna focus on the real problems. I’m not gonna focus on the agenda dictated by a bunch of affluent, elite liberals and a bunch of Marxist misfits who sadly today control the agenda of the modern Democratic Party,” he remarked.

Rubio posted the video hours after Buttigieg told CNN host Jake Tapper that he didn’t know why Rubio wouldn’t have time to help safeguard same-sex marriages if he has the time to fight against Disney in Florida.

The Florida senator calling the push to codify gay marriage in Congress a “stupid waste of time,” incensed Buttigieg who is openly gay.

Democrats have been panicking since the Supreme Court overturned the landmark abortion case Roe vs. Wade. They claim that gay marriage is next on Republicans’ agenda, expressing their fear that Obergefell v. Hodges, the ruling creating a right to gay marriage, could be upended as well.

“I don’t think we should be spending time on a non-issue and a non-problem,” Rubio commented on Saturday. “It’s as simple as that. I just don’t. Not when people are paying $4.66 for gas. Not when inflation and prices for some of the most basic goods and services in our country are crushing middle-class Americans.”

“This is just not real. It’s a fake problem. I don’t vote for fake problems. I don’t vote to solve problems that don’t exist. It’s important for the priorities of the people in Washington to be the priorities of the people that sent us there,” he stated.

Buttigieg is not the only Democrat who is itching for a fight with Rubio over his comments. Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin claims she confronted Rubio in an elevator over his opposition to a bill codifying gay marriage into law.

She says she called out Rubio on the elevator shortly after he told a reporter that the bill to codify same-sex marriage into law currently being debated in the Senate is a “waste of time.”

“You probably would have loved to be on the elevator to see the exchange after,” Baldwin bragged to CNN on Thursday, adding that “of course, I did” speak to the Florida Republican concerning his comment.

“I said that, ‘The recent Supreme Court decision eroded a constitutional right to privacy. There’s a whole bunch of cases that have been decided based on a constitutional right to privacy that are in jeopardy,’ which he disagrees with. And anyways, I said we’ll be talking some more,” Baldwin declared.

Rubio repeated his prior stance that the bill is a waste of time and effectively brushed Baldwin off as an annoyance.

The Democratically-controlled House of Representatives passed the same-sex marriage bill last week. Now, it moves to the Senate where it has to gain the support of at least ten Republicans to survive a vote.

The left is also up in arms over Rubio calling out Democrats as a whole.

“As long as the country is in the hands of Marxist crazies and laptop liberals that work at home in their pajamas, as long as the Democratic Party is controlled by them the only thing they can produce are incompetent leaders that will lead us into crisis after crisis,” he said to a packed GOP room during the “Victory Dinner” at the Republican Party of Florida’s Sunshine Summit according to Business Insider.

Rubio contrasted between what he called the priorities of “working people” versus “a very small but powerful group of people” who are in charge.

The Democratic Party’s agenda, he said, was “taken over by 2 or 3% of the country,” and he called for a “new American majority” as Republicans sweep the midterms in November and take back the House and the Senate.

Rubio accused the left of being obsessed with “climate hysteria, transgender rights” and trillions of dollars in spending.

Working people, he claimed, want to address “common sense” issues such as gas, inflation, crime, fentanyl deaths, and illegal immigration.
