Barring the sham J6 committee pulling a rabbit out of the hat, crestfallen talking heads in the media are in the process of choking down the bitter pill that former President Donald J. Trump will mount another White House run in 2024 and are busily rounding up his GOP detractors to trot out on television, one of them being Arizona Governor Doug Ducey.

Ducy joined host Dana Bash on Sunday morning’s edition of “State of the Union” where the host continued to flog the “insurrection” horse as she sought to pin down the outgoing Republican leader who had previously blamed the chaos at the Capitol on Trump as to whether he would support him if he emerges as the party’s candidate in the next presidential election.

“You told me last year on this show, that Donald Trump bears some responsibility for January 6,” Bash said. “Do you believe his actions on January 6, or inaction should disqualify him from holding public office in the future?”

Ducey responded,  “Dana, I condemned January 6th. And I think everyone that broke the law should be held accountable. In our system, this is up to the voters on what happens next. So many people want to talk about 2024 and I want to resist that temptation to talk about hypotheticals, I think the best way for us to turn this page and to move forward as a conservative Republican Party and the country is to make sure we get the best possible people elected in 2022 and that’s my focus as well as running the state of Arizona every single day.”

Bash persisted, “If Donald Trump runs in 2024, will you support him?”

Ducey dodged while at the same time, not expressing support for the former and possibly future POTUS.

“I think we will have options in the 2024 primary race. I am hopeful we will have options,” he said. “And I want somebody who can win that general election because I believe with success in 2022, the general election is the Republican Party’s for the taking.”

Ducey also took a shot at GOP gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake, the fiery former television reporter who has received Trump’s endorsement and is the target of a vicious smear campaign involving a transgender stripper who claimed that she held drag queen parties in her home in the presence of her young daughter.

Ducey, who is supporting Lake’s opponent Karrin Taylor Robson in next month’s primary was served up a question to tee up the trashing of Lake which he gladly did.

“Well the names on the ballot are Karrin Taylor Robson and Kari Lake and Karrin Taylor Robson is the real conservative, she’s the real deal,” he said. “She started her career working for Ronald Reagan, she’s pro-wall, pro-gun, pro-life, she’s the mother of four, she’s been a community leader and a successful business person and I think Karrin Taylor Robson will be the best person to be a fresh new leader for the state of Arizona.”

“Her opponent, on the other hand bears no resemblance, her campaign or even her personal interactions with me to anything she’s done over the past 30 years,” Ducey said. “This is all an act, she’s been putting on a show for some time now and we’ll see if the voters of Arizona buy it.”

Trump, who has butted heads with Gov. Ducey scorched him as a RINO in his statement ensorsing Lake.

“She is strong on Crime, will protect our Border, Second Amendment, Military and Vets, and will fight to restore Election Integrity (both past and future!) She is against Covid lockdowns, Cancel Culture, and will end “woke” curriculum in our schools,” he added. “She will do a far better job than RINO Governor Doug Ducey — won’t even be a contest!
