House Democrats and their grandstanding congressional hearings on abortion rights in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade were called out for their own party’s racism by Rep. Burgess Owens who eviscerated them in an epic statement.
The Utah Republican and former NFL defensive back dropped the Dem narrative for a loss, especially over their hypocrisy about racial justice and abortion, a practice that has resulted in the snuffing out of the lives of tens of millions of black babies, a veritable genocide.
Owens’s powerful remarks were a stark contrast to the parade of speakers brought in by the majority Democrats for their hearings in both chambers of Congress this week, including Berkeley Law School professor Khiara Bridges who in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing accused Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of transphobia and endangering the lives of transgenders through his words.
On Thursday, the Democrat freak show moved on to the House Judiciary Committee where Owens cut through their BS like the proverbial hot knife through butter with his impassioned words.
After praising his fellow Republicans for their “eloquent defense of life,” Owens tied committee Democrats to the whipping post and verbally lashed away.
“Having grown up in the Jim Crow South, with segregation and the KKK, I’m familiar with the true racism, intolerance, and hate, all due to the color of my skin. I see the same thing today in 2022 as the hard left, the so-called party of tolerance who bang the drum of racism, inequality, inequity, do not practice what they preach,” Owens began.

Calling attention to the actions of the opposing party’s activist shock troops who have descended on conservative justices’ neighborhoods and harassed Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a D.C. restaurant after one leftist traveled from California to his home for a failed assassination attempt, Owens blistered Democrats and their fellow travelers for their racist attacks on Justice Clarence Thomas, who has taken the brunt of the hate for being a successful black conservative.
“That’s nothing new for Justice Thomas, who has been the target of the elitist Left for 40 years,” Owens said. “Instead of celebrating the second black American in our nation’s history in the highest court, they declared open seasons with vicious, racist attacks. Just because he’s an articulate, confident, black American, who loves the American tenets of God, country, and family. Just because he’s a black man who dares to think differently than they would love for him to think.”
Owens then read a small sample of some of the racist bile that has been directed at Thomas by the left, including by foul-mouthed actor Samuel L. Jackson who derisively called the longest tenured SCOTUS “Uncle Clarence” and January 6 committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson who called Thomas “Uncle Tom” in two of the sick remarks from the likes of embittered sore loser Hillary Clinton and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
“So typical of the condescending racism,” Owens said. “If these same attacks were aimed at Barack Obama it would be called out by this committee and the media for exactly what it is: pure racism.”
Owens added, “This pattern of intolerance is disgusting, unjustified, un-American, most importantly it shows how far we’ve come from MLK’s dream where our children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the character of their content.”
“Instead of working to delegitimize our institutions, defaulting to fearmongering tactics, and basic arguments that the Supreme Court wants to take away our rights, we should be honest with the American people,” he continued. “Dishonesty is not appreciated by the American people and you’ll see that in November this year, check it out.”
“Roe v. Wade cost us 23 million innocent lives, like the pro-slavery Democrat Dred Scott decision in 1857, it was a flawed decision,” Owens said. “Overcoming Roe didn’t outlaw abortions or take away the constitutional right of Americans, it put the decision in the state’s hands, in the hands of we the people, where it belongs.”
Owens then issued a challenge to the Democrats, “To the angry left, it’s time to settle down, take off your mask, and show your cowardly faces. Put down your stones and firebombs and through civil debate convince us that you’re right.”
“My prediction is you have no clue,” he said. “In the meanwhile, a black constitutionalist on the Supreme Court who stands with that decision should be revered, not ridiculed.”
“Last thought, Justice Thomas is old school, I promise you, he will not be intimidated,” Owens concluded.
