‘Obviously satire’: Reality checks come fast and furious when Swalwell claims Dems are ‘party of freedom’

In an impressive act of blatant gaslighting, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is proclaiming that the Democrats are the “party of freedom” despite all evidence to the contrary as they push freedom-squelching leftist policies.

“What’s the Democrats’ message? I hear this all the time. Simple. We are the party of freedom. Freedom to make your own health care choices. Freedom from your fear of gun violence. Freedom to have your vote counted. Our message is our values. Freedom for all,” Swalwell tweeted, voicing the direct opposite of what Democrats stand for.

Republicans instantly flashed back to the “Princess Bride,” and the line, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

If that message is meant to sway voters in the midterm elections, Democrats are in for a world of disappointment. Despite their craven revisionism of history, their actions are fresh in Americans’ memories. “Freedom” is not the term that most would use to describe mask mandates, forced vaccinations, gun control, election manipulation, the grooming of children, gender fluidity, school lockdowns, inflation, and a woke ideology that is being shoved down the nation’s throat.

The response to Swalwell’s roll-on-the-floor ridiculous proclamation was epic.

“According to Eric Fang Fang ‘Freedom’ requires law abiding citizens to give up their means of self-defense. ‘Freedom’ means limited/refused medical treatment if you don’t meet their viability standard or adhere to ‘vaccine’ mandates. ‘Freedom’ means illegals/dead can vote,” one commenter pointed out.

Another astutely remarked, “The dems are co-opting the word ‘freedom’ to mean whatever nihilistic policy they want.”

Contributing editor to The Spectator, Stephen Miller, expressed severe doubts that the storyline would sell for Swalwell, “You and your state locked down businesses and schools and imposed mask mandates outdoors on children. Have fun selling that one.”

One commenter noted that the Democrats are actually the party of “no values.”

“Eric thinks Dems r party of values. Abortion support not a value. Supporting different sexual preferences not a value. Transgender in womens sports not a value. Transgender males in womens bathrooms not a value. Support to legalize pot not a value. Dems r the party of no values.”

Conservative pundit Fusilli Spock tweeted, “1. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor 2. Disarm legal gun owners so criminals with guns keep you in fear 3. Blocking voting security dilutes everyone’s vote 4. Sexualize children and excuse/release violent criminals 5. Freedom of speech, but not conservative speech.”

And many more piled on. Swalwell got clobbered on Twitter:
