Largest teachers union sinks $140,000 into ‘enemies list’ to keep close tabs on critics

The National Education Association (NEA) has decided that—in the wake of the severe parental backlash against far-left “woke” programs and critical race theory initiatives—it will now assemble an “enemies list.”

The NEA, which is the largest labor union in the country, passed a resolution at its Representative Assembly that will allow it to conduct wide-ranging research on what it claims are the 25 largest groups that oppose a series of issues that all happen to be current-year, left-wing obsessions. The resolution will apparently cost north of $140,000, and states that the “NEA shall compile research to create fact sheets about the largest 25 organizations that are actively working to diminish a students’ right to honesty in education, freedom of sexual and gender identify, and teacher autonomy.”

The “fact sheets” will compile information on the leaders, funding sources, and other connections related to groups that the deeply liberal NEA views as working to “dismantle public education.”

Nicole Neily, of the parental advocacy group Parents Defending Education, told Fox News that she’s very worried about this troubling development in which a powerful, well-funded union has decided to mobilize against its “enemies”—otherwise known as “parent.”

“It’s not surprising that the unions would compile an ‘enemies list,'” she said.

“[The NEA’s] policies are deeply unpopular with average American families—and, I suspect, with many of their rank-and-file membership, which means that they must enforce their ideology through bullying and intimidation. We will not be bullied, we will not be cowed, and we will not be silenced. We will continue to advocate for our children, because the past two years have made it abundantly clear that children’s welfare is the unions’ absolute last priority.”

A retired NEA member, Jeralee Smith, told Fox News that the union has adopted a radical platform that would make Marx and Lenin proud. “They’re not just trying to change culture, they’re trying to change what it means to be human,” she said. “They have no ability to tolerate somebody who doesn’t agree with them.”

The NEA’s hit list is hardly the only of the radical measures recently debated in the union’s Representative Assembly. Terry Stoops, from the John Locke Foundation, has done yeoman’s work highlighting some of the other craziness emanating from the most powerful union in the country.

For instance, one resolution takes aim at language, ever a favorite target of the left, which it aims to make “LGBTQIA+ inclusive.”

“‘Parental leave’ instead of ‘maternity leave,’ ‘parent’ instead of ‘mother’ or ‘father,’ ‘birthing parent’ instead of ‘mother,’ ‘non-birthing parent’ instead of ‘father,'” the resolution reads.

Another resolution takes aim at “climate justice” and “environmental racism,” whatever that means.

“NEA shall create a policy task force to develop strategies for placing the intersectionality of climate justice and environmental racism at the center of all relevant conversations and business. We have a moral obligation to model climate engagement and to be active visionaries for the future of our planet,” the resolution proclaims in lofty language.

If the teachers in the NEA want to be “active visionaries for the future of our planet,” they might start with teaching children the basics of reading and writing, elementary mathematics, and a decent grasp of world history.
