Politico does it again; forced to issue correction after false claim about Justice Clarence Thomas

The leftist onslaught on conservative Supreme Court justices has been intense following the historic ruling that aborted Roe v. Wade and an attempt to smear Justice Clarence Thomas by falsely portraying his words has left Politico editors with egg dripping from their faces.

The outlet reacted to Thursday’s news that the nation’s highest court had declined to hear a challenge to New York’s COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers who filed a lawsuit claiming that being coerced into getting jabbed violates their religious beliefs, leading Politico to accuse Thomas of promoting a theory that the vaccines were developed using cells from aborted fetuses, something that he never said.

What Justice Thomas DID say in his dissent was that “Petitioners are 16 healthcare workers who served New York communities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They object on religious grounds to all available COVID–19 vaccines because they were developed using cell lines derived from aborted children,” clearly referring to the beliefs of the healthcare workers and not his own.

Politico’s initial reporting stated that “Clarence Thomas claimed in a dissenting opinion that Covid vaccines are derived from the cells of ‘aborted children'” in its since-deleted tweet which drew angry reactions from prominent leftists, including former “Today” show host and CBS News anchor Katie Couric who wrote, “This man needs help” with a link to the erroneous report.

Politico has added the following to the bottom of its story:  “CORRECTION: An earlier version of this report misattributed the claim that Covid-19 vaccines were “developed using cell lines derived from aborted children” to Thomas. The headline and article have been updated to directly state that Thomas was referencing petitioners’ claims.”

The headline has also been changed to the more accurate, “Clarence Thomas cites claim that Covid vaccines are ‘developed using cell lines derived from aborted children’” along with a note on Twitter that says, “For the record: This corrects an earlier deleted tweet that misattributed the claim that Covid vaccines were ‘developed using cell lines derived from aborted children’ to Thomas. The story and this post were updated to directly state that he was referencing petitioners’ claims.”

Justice Thomas is only one of the SCOTUS conservatives who ruled against Roe v. Wade but has been the target of the most strident criticism, including from embittered sore loser Hillary Clinton who, during an interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings,” invoked the racist trope of the angry black man to claim that he has been driven by “resentment, grievance, anger” ever since she’s known him.

The hatred directed at Thomas is a reflection of the contempt that the left has for successful black conservatives who are free from the mental slavery of the Democratic Party plantation and, as a result, he is singled out for the harshest treatment, including the failed “high tech lynching” by Politico.

Deliberately misrepresenting the words of Thomas is just the latest of Politico’s embarrassing stumbles including a false claim that Biden appointee Ketanji Brown Jackson was the first black Supreme Court justice, erasing Thurgood Marshall who was appointed by Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967 as well as slighting Thomas.

That lie was explained by Politico as an honest mistake and that the outlet meant to say the “first black female” justice.

The outlet also had to walk back another lie after it was blasted by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office for claiming that Obama appointee Justice Sonya Sotomayor was spotted dining with Democrat leaders earlier this year.

Not that any more examples are necessary to demonstrate the shameful, biased, partisan truth-twisting that dominates today’s mainstream media but Politico once again delivered it.
