The Democrat obsession with former President Donald J. Trump has served as the basis for years of wild conspiracy theories from party politicians, their media allies and the zanies who prowl Twitter and Rep. Norma Torres uncorked another doozy on the day after the January 6 select committee unveiled its star ‘witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson with her lurid “insider” account that has been featured in saturation coverage from the media.
Torres, who is another of the stable of California crazies in the House who occupy positions of influence under Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s iron-fisted rule, put on her tinfoil hat during a Wednesday appearance on MSNBC, claiming without a smidgen of evidence that Trump was plotting the so-called “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol all the way back in 2016 with the complicity of Republican leaders in Congress.
Congresswoman Torres unveiled the latest in a long line of conspiracies during Wednesday’s edition of “José Díaz-Balart Reports” as she weighed in on Tuesday’s J6 testimony and the already debunked claims by Hutchinson, the former aide to Trump’s White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
After being asked by the host for her take on the events of January 6, 2021 and Hutchinson’s truth-challenged testimony, Torres said, “Yesterday’s testimony was another gut-punch to every single one of us who was on that balcony, face down, crawling our way through rows and rows of seats to safety with you know, hardly any officers in sight,” recounting the chaotic events of the day when protesters briefly occupied the Capitol, leading to a short delay to certify the Electoral College results by lawmakers.
“And for me, as a former 911 dispatcher, listening to the radio traffic of officers screaming, asking for help through that entire ordeal, what that tells me is that every one of those Republicans that have been identified and the leadership, the GOP leadership in Congress and in the Senate knew about it,” she said, speculating that her Republican colleagues were complicit in the chaos.
“They were in on it,” she claimed without providing a scintilla of evidence. “They knew that the president was trying to force his way into staying another four years. More and more to me it appears that this was something that was planned from day one after his first election way back in ah, when he first won, so they were planning the re-election. They knew they couldn’t win because they have a candidate who was so grossly incompetent in being the president of the United States.”
“Every time he opened his mouth, it was violence,” she continued. “Violence against immigrants, violence against women, violence against LGBTQ community, anybody who would stand in his way and not agree with him, it was always turned on him.”
Torres tweeted out a portion of Hutchinson, touting her “brave testimony” as proof that Trump led an armed insurrection against the U.S. government, a ridiculous assertion that nonetheless became a part of the Pelosi-Cheney narrative after her star turn on Tuesday.
“Cassidy Hutchinson’s brave testimony dispels any doubt that Trump knew exactly what was happening on Jan. 6, and encouraged rioters to storm the Capitol knowing they were armed and dangerous,” she wrote.

“There can now be no question that Trump was complicit in the January 6 attack, and that he clearly had his sights set on one goal – what he saw as his last chance to disrupt the results of a free and fair election,” added Torres.

Torres did not mention the inconvenient detail that Hutchinson’s wild tale of Trump attempting to seize the wheel of the presidential limo was quickly rebutted by both the lead Secret Service agent on the former president’s security detail as well as the driver who both offered to testify under oath to the contrary, according to Peter Alexander, NBC News’ chief White House correspondent.
🚨 A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel.

The free pass that is given to Democrats to spew conspiracy theories without having to back their words up with solid evidence is a sad testament to how far the press has fallen, abandoning any pretense of holding corrupt power accountable as reporters once did in what is clearly now a bygone era of journalism.
