Senate passes anti-gun bill with GOP support, Dems spike the ball after big win for Biden

As was expected, on Thursday night the Senate passed the controversial gun control bill that sailed through thanks to a group of Republican lawmakers who joined with Democrats in support of legislation that some believe will usher in the beginning of the disarmament of law-abiding Americans that the left has been clamoring for.

The bill which had the backing of President Joe Biden passed by a tally of 65–33, delivering a big win to the deeply unpopular leader who along with his fellow Democrats, swiftly moved to exploit public outrage over the massacres in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, N.Y. to cram through a bill that contains federal backing for red flag laws which will almost certainly be abused to take guns out of the hands of the regime’s political enemies.

The passage of the Safer Communities Act with the blessing of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and a gang of 14 other Republicans was the most significant anti-gun legislation in three decades and comes at a time when violent crime has spiraled out of control, leaving Americans more vulnerable than ever to criminal thugs, clearly not a concern to the powerful political elite who have their own private security details.

Biden took to Twitter to spike the ball following the Senate vote.

“Tonight, bipartisan members of Congress passed legislation to address the scourge of gun violence across America,” the POTUS wrote. “Our kids and our nation will be safer because of this legislation. The House of Representatives should promptly vote and send it to my desk.”

Other reactions included former President Barack Obama who rejoiced in the bill’s passage while taking a swipe at the Supreme Court over Thursday’s landmark ruling that upheld Second Amendment rights.

“Progress isn’t always a straight line,” Obama wrote on Twitter. “Today’s Supreme Court decision is wrong but Congress passing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is a modest but real step forward. And the fight will go on, thanks to the activists, survivors, and families who continue to demand action.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer hailed the “bipartisan, lifesaving gun-safety legislation” and vowed that it was only the beginning.

“We’ll keep working for more action at all levels of gov’t,” he wrote in an acknowledgment that the gun-grabbers are only getting warmed up.

Anti-gun activist David Hogg took to Twitter to take some of the credit for the bill’s passage.

“I am happy to have played a small role as one of tens of thousands of others to get this bill advanced. Thankful for my girlfriend, my family and my friends for supporting me all the times I wanted to give up. Tonight made it worth the blood, sweat and tears this took,” he wrote.

Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas who spearheaded the bill also took to Twitter to pat himself on the back.

“I am proud that after weeks of hard work, the Senate passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, a bill I negotiated with my colleagues,” he wrote. “Our bill will save lives while placing no new restrictions on law-abiding gun owners.”

Utah Senator and failed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who once again showed his true colors by siding with Dems, also took a victory lap.

“Protecting human life and safeguarding Americans’ constitutional rights are not mutually exclusive—and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act accomplishes both. Proud to have supported this package of commonsense solutions,” he posted on Twitter.

Prior to the bill’s passage, former President Donald J. Trump called it the first step toward gun confiscation, long the Holy Grail for Democrats.

“The deal on ‘Gun Control’ currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by the Radical Left Democrats, with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans, be careful what you wish for!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

While the bill is a slam dunk for Biden, Democrats and their RINO collaborators, it faces an uncertain future with the Supreme Court, particularly over the red flag laws which many contend are completely unconstitutional.
