A Christian school teacher in Florida was arrested last week for enjoying some “extracurricular” activities with one of her students earlier this year.
Julie Hoover, Point of Grace Christian School teacher, was allegedly “sexting” the student, according to a report by WCTV.
The 18-year-old student’s mother discovered the explicit messages and contacted the Taylor County Florida Sheriff’s Department on June 2. According to the mom, Hoover was also trying to sneak the student into her house while her husband was working.
The alleged text messages were shared between the teacher and her pupil in March and April while the teenager was enrolled in multiple classes with Hoover.
The instructor reportedly attended St. Leo University and had been a math instructor at the school in Perry, Florida since 2018.
The teacher faces one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sex with a student. After her June 8 arrest, she was released the following day on a $15,000 bond.
Social media lit up with theories on how the two got to know each other.

However, some people felt there was some blame to be given to the teenager as he was a legal adult in the situation.
What might be most disturbing here, is how many on this thread overlook or even ignore the student’s culpability, as if he’s weak and innocent and played no part.

Hoover is not the only teacher who got a little too friendly with a student this year with the help of technology.
A warrant for the arrest of an Oklahoma Middle School teacher was issued on May 26 in connection with nude photos and a video that she apparently sent through Snapchat.
Court documents indicate that Ivy Reneau who met the teenager at soccer practice “heard rumors that he liked her and wanted to watch her run.”

One of the photos she sent the boy who she thought was 18 – but turned out to be 16 – reportedly showed the teacher “posing in front of the mirror sideways with no clothes on her breast was exposed along with her butt.” Another risqué photo apparently showed the teacher topless.
The Mid-Del School District issued a statement condemning the inappropriate relationship.
“District officials were notified of an alleged relationship between a Mid-Del staff member and a student. We reported the information to law enforcement so that they could begin an investigation,” the statement read. “The staff member is no longer employed by Mid-Del Schools, and we have worked closely with the family of the student in the wake of this accusation. We will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
