NPR helps promote campaign to pressure advertisers to dump Fox News

It’s no secret that the Left views Fox News as a mortal threat to “Our Democracy” and their progressive agenda that has done so much to lead the country into its current distressing straits.

The existence of even a single outlet that refuses, even if only mildly, to toe the leftist line is an intolerable cosmic affront, and said outlet must be eradicated with a thoroughness worthy of the Stalin-era NKVD. Witness the latest attempt by a left-wing organization, which is being unethically promoted by NPR against a fellow news organization.

The “non-profit” group Check My Ads has decided to take down Fox News, launching a campaign on Thursday to target the network’s advertisers. NPR got wind of the effort and interviewed the two women who run it.

NPR’s nauseating encomium of the organization explains its origin and purpose.

“A nonprofit aiming to defund disinformation online that has taken money out of the pockets of several prominent far-right websites now has its sights set on its most formidable target yet: Fox News,” the article reads.

“The group, Check My Ads, is hoping the success it has had in stripping advertising dollars from right-wing provocateurs including Steve Bannon, Glenn Beck and Dan Bongino will give it momentum as it attempts to confront a powerful media empire,” it continued. At last check, however, all three of these “right-wing provocateurs” are still going strong.

“On Thursday,” the article continues, “the outfit announced a new campaign directed at Fox’s website and its popular YouTube channel calling on the public to pressure online ad exchanges to stop doing business with Fox. It comes just as the House committee investigating the Capitol riots kicks off a series of hearings focused on violence that unfolded on Jan. 6.”

And therein lies the true meaning of the effort—an attempt to smear Fox News as an instigator of violence. For its part, the network rightly dismissed the campaign as merely another left-wing effort to shut down free speech.

“There’s no greater threat to democracy than the effort to silence free speech,” Fox News responded to NPR in a statement, adding that it’s proud that it features “more dissenting viewpoints on the major issues facing the country than our cable news competitors.”

It’s an old tactic, and Rush Limbaugh used the phrase “seminar callers” to describe a similar effort to try to disrupt his program and cause sponsors to drop his show. Of course, people are a little more savvy these days, and they’re wise to the tricks of leftist scolds. Needless to say, the effort has elicited a great deal of ridicule from the Twitterverse.

And it wasn’t lost on many people that the effort follows a well-worn technique by left-wing radicals of attempting to silence dissent rather than demonstrate the superiority of their ideas.

  1. Why are my tax dollars being spent on this outfit, while they are working hard to destroy people like me. This Marxist outfit needs to removed from the teat of the American tax payers.

  2. The irony is never ending: protect democracy by destroying its protections in our Constitution.

  3. NPR is violating the first amendment by advocating to financially punish those who say things that they don’t like.

  4. Taxpayer’s need to defend NPR, why are we funding an organization that is helping the left destroying America?

  5. NPR member stations receive funds through on-air pledge drives, corporate underwriting, state and local governments, educational institutions, and the federally funded Corporation for Public Brodcasting (CPB). So then Americans are paying tax dollars to promote censorship. Imagine that folks. We pay for our own censorship.
