‘Men, meet your responsibilities’: Ron DeSantis fearlessly takes on fatherlessness behind societal decline

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis addressed the issue of fatherlessness in America, proclaiming that it was behind many of the nation’s problems and admonishing men to meet their responsibilities.

DeSantis made his comments in an interview with conservative host Dave Rubin that was posted by “The Rubin Report” on Wednesday.

“But the fatherhood thing is interesting because if you look at all the different problems society could deal with, a huge number of them are rooted in kids growing up without having a father in the home,” the Florida Republican asserted.

He went on to discuss how prisoners many times wind up where they are because there is no father in the home. DeSantis feels that if that issue could be addressed, society would be much better off.

“Part of it is resources, education. Part of it though is sending a message to men, meet your responsibilities. You have a responsibility” to be around to raise their children, DeSantis stated to wild applause.

“There are people who get involved in elected office to be able to enjoy the accouterments of office, to be able to have a title. And then there are people who get in because they actually want to do something and make a difference. I’m the latter,” the Florida governor remarked.

“When you stand up and you stand in that fire and you fight back for people, man, they will have your back. They will support you. That’s what we’ve shown in the state of Florida,” DeSantis proclaimed receiving a standing ovation in Orlando, Florida for his stance on freedom.

“I don’t know what S.O.B. is gonna end up succeeding me… But I can tell you this: There ain’t gonna be any meat left on the bone for them, I’m going on offense…I’m not just going to sit back,” the Republican rock star noted.

He also went after Dr. Anthony Fauci during the interview while discussing his fight against COVID mandates in Florida during the pandemic.

“We were the first big state to give every parent the ability to send their kid to school in-person way back in 2020,” he noted.

“Fauci opposed us having kids in school. He opposed what we were doing. When we had businesses open and protecting people’s jobs and were having these events, he opposed us every step of the way,” DeSantis continued. “That wasn’t based on data because the schooling was obvious, that you needed to have the kids in school. It was based more on ideology.”

Team DeSantis tweeted in line with the governor’s sentiments on the epidemiologist, “Fauci treated people like roadkill, while Governor @RonDeSantisFL fought for their right to work, make a living, and take care of their families. ‘He [Fauci] didn’t give a damn about whether they had a job or not.'”

Rubin recently ditched California as his home and moved his entire company to Florida. He made headlines when he announced last December that he was leaving the “dystopian nightmare” that California has become.

Rubin cited California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom as the primary reason that he left the state with his husband and employees in tow.

“Personal thanks to @GavinNewsom as I am officially leaving the dystopian nightmare of California for the free state of Florida. My successful business and all my employees are coming with. See you soon, @GovRonDeSantis!” Rubin tweeted.

  1. I really like DeSantis! I got custody of my kids when they were 6 and 7 and it was the best thing i ever did. It changed my life and built character.

  2. and . . . Obama agrees with him

2008 Father’s Day Speech, by Sen. Obama:
Obama: ” . . . children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison.” “More than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children.” ” . . . these absent fathers don’t realize that “responsibility does not end at conception” and are “acting like boys instead of men” (1).

Confirmed by Politifact (2) and confirmed by other fact checking.
USA single family households Asian (15%) , white (24%), Hispanic (42%), black (64%) (3). The higher the single parent rate, the higher the crime and incarceration rates. (see Jackson, just below and fn 4).

    2) Politifact: “By using the term “we,” we will assume Obama is speaking to people roughly his age, 46. And by that measure, his claim is backed up by data from the U.S. Census Bureau. In 1960, the year before Obama was born, 22 percent of black children lived with single parents. In 1968, the number rose to 31.4 percent. By 2006, the 1960 percentage had more than doubled to 56 percent. And the single parents are overwhelmingly women. In 2006, 91.4 percent of single parents of black children were mothers. That figure hasn’t changed over the years. In 1960, it was a shade lower at 91 percent.”

    4)  For the White–Black comparisons, the Black level is 12.7 times greater than the White level for homicide, 15.6 times greater for robbery, 6.7 times greater for rape, and 4.5 times greater for aggravated assault (4)
For the Hispanic- White comparison, the Hispanic level is 4.0 times greater than the White level for homicide, 3.8 times greater for robbery, 2.8 times greater for rape, and 2.3 times greater for aggravated assault.
