A 26-year-old-male accused of murdering a 64-year-old man in New York City can now be housed with females and adolescents as he undergoes gender transition while awaiting trial, a story from the Daily Mail revealed.
Alex Ray Scott is now listed as female in Rikers Island documents, and Scott’s attorney referred to the alleged killer using female pronouns at a court appearance Wednesday, the outlet reported.
Scott was charged with murder, grand larceny, and possession of stolen property in 2020 and booked as a male at the time. He is implicated in the death of Kenneth Savinski, an antiques dealer whom Scott allegedly met through a dating app.
Savinski was found dead in his Upper East Side apartment with neck wounds and a deep gash in his head.

Scott allegedly walked into a Manhattan police station after midnight the next day covered in blood and announced, “I think I may have killed someone last night.”
During the hearing, which was to determine the need for expert evaluations in the case, Scott’s attorney, Jessica Horani, referred to her client as “Miss.”
Some members of the Oklahoma native’s family are not completely aware of Scott’s desire to transition from male to female, the outlet reported.
Scott has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and has been held without bail for two years with little further discovery in the case.
Savinski was discovered by a friend on the evening of January 27th, 2020. When police arrived, it was unclear to them if Savinski had fallen and injured himself or if foul play was involved, but they soon found his throat had been slashed.
Police initially had no suspect or motive until Scott surrendered at the 19th Precinct on East 67th Street.
According to the New York Daily News, Scott was seen a few hours prior wearing Savinski’s jacket with visible injuries on his hands. He appeared to be counting money.
He then allegedly used Savinski’s credit cards to pay for a hotel room in New Jersey before returning to the scene of the alleged crime the following night. He was captured by security cameras entering the apartment and leaving quickly upon noticing police in the area.
Detectives say the two met the night before and agreed to meet at Savinksi’s apartment for a “romantic liaison.”
Scott incriminated himself upon his surrender and had five stolen cards in his possession, the New York Post said.
Scott was previously under investigation in Tulsa on child molestation charges and was ironically photographed in 2017 at a fashion show event to raise funds for the Children’s Abuse Network of Tulsa.
Identifying as a male at the time, Scott was accused of forcing the 5-year-old son of a co-worker to perform oral sex, The New York Times reported.
Before he could be interviewed, Tulsa police say Scott fled the state, ending up in New York “to get away from that case.” His attorney said his recollection of the days prior to Savinski’s death is foggy and she suggests he may have been drugged.
Prosecutors say he lived mostly in hotels in the Manhattan area in the weeks prior to his surrender to police after the alleged murder.
