A Lancaster, Pennsylvania high school teacher has been put on administrative leave after hosting a raunchy drag show for “Genders Sexualities Alliance” club students after school hours without bothering to notify parents or ask for their permission.

The disturbing performance featured professional dancers and occurred at Hempfield High School on Monday. It was announced while school was in session but parents were not told it was taking place.

The teacher placed on leave was not named, but the club’s adviser is French teacher Kelly Tyson. She organized the event and is reportedly proud of it. Another adviser to the club is English teacher Carla Vicidomini. Neither has commented on the event.

A viral video from “Libs of Tik Tok” on Twitter shows the bizarre and immoral performance taking place at the school. The video was taken by a student. The event was first reported by Harrisburg 100. The drag show featured dancers in tight-fitting and revealing clothing with exposed buttocks.

The school quickly issued a statement apologizing profusely for the drag show.

“First and foremost, the administration team apologizes to students, parents, and the community on behalf of those involved in this event. We are appalled at what took place and in no way condone this type of activity in our schools. Neither the dress of the invited guests nor the performance was appropriate in our school setting. We are taking the incident seriously in our ongoing investigation and follow-up actions,” the statement asserted.

The incident is now purportedly under investigation.

“It is important to district administrators that the district has the trust and confidence of the community, and we realize that an incident such as this completely undermines that trust. We commit to completing a thorough investigation and holding those involved accountable, up to and including disciplinary action that is commensurate with any findings,” the school district declared.

As for the teacher who put the event on, there were no regrets. According to “Libs of Tik Tok,” she released a statement on social media expressing her thrill over the event taking place.

“I don’t know how to explain the sheer joy I feel in my bones when these queens come take time out of their busy schedules to perform for us (year 3!) and to be with my students,” the statement proclaimed. “As GSA co-advisor and a queer teacher, it makes me emotional to think of this space we have created — I would have loved nothing more than to have a space like they have, an opportunity to attend their own drag show.”

There is no information concerning why it took three years for the event to be reported. It also begs the question of how the school could not have known about the drag show until now.
