Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro tore into Tesla CEO Elon Musk after his takeover of Twitter, stating that he’s not “ecstatic” over it while asserting that he doesn’t trust the SpaceX owner, claiming he is “bought and paid for by the Communist Chinese Party.”

Navarro is reportedly still a close ally of former President Donald Trump but does not share his enthusiasm for Musk.

Following Musk’s purchase of Twitter on Monday, Trump stated that he would not be going back to the social media platform, but would instead stay on Truth Social.

“I am not going on Twitter. I am going to stay on Truth. I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth,” he said, according to Fox News.

“We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter,” Trump declared. “Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can.”

He added, “The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.”

Navarro, on the other hand, told Newsmax TV’s Eric Bolling Monday on his show “The Balance” that he fears Musk might be compromised by the Communist Chinese Party and therefore is not trustworthy in his estimation.

During the interview with Bolling, Navarro stated that Trump would gain more traction and have a broader reach using Twitter to reach potential 2024 voters if he runs.

“My advice to the boss is if he wants to reach a maximum amount of people, do that, OK,” Navarro advised. “Get back on Twitter, get back on any platform that’s not going to enhance the Silicon Valley oligarch.”

Navarro contended that the former president would limit his reach to American voters if he only posts to Truth Social and doesn’t take advantage of other social media platforms.

“You’re right because the people who are on Truth Social are going to be Trump voters anyway,” Bolling agreed. “He doesn’t really need to get their vote, he’s got them.”

“Social media is today’s nuclear weapon in politics,” Navarro claimed when allowed to get in the final thought during the segment. “The thing I’m concerned about with Elon Musk, everybody hails him as the great white knight here. He’s bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party.”

Navarro is concerned that Musk’s purported reliance on China for car batteries and the fact that he has a Tesla production facility, Giga Shanghai, located there would make him vulnerable to pressure from the Chinese. He thinks it could give them leverage to influence American elections.

“I worry at one point that Twitter might be compromised during the middle of a political campaign by China threatening Musk’s Tesla production in communist China,” he asserted.

The former Trump adviser made it clear that although many on the right are thrilled with Musk taking over Twitter, he is not one of them.

“I’m not ecstatic, over the moon like some people are,” Navarro bluntly remarked. “Frankly, I don’t trust the guy.”

  1. Trusting Musk is not really an issue. He supplies his own money, offering to reintroduce Twitter to the concept of free speech. If he fails or does something untrustworthy, can Twitter be any more dysfunctional than it is now? I don’t think so. At worst, I can ignore it, which is what I do now.
