Psaki serves up word salad to dodge inquiry about Biden ‘support’ for special counsel on son Hunter

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy pressed on President Joe Biden’s involvement in ongoing developments surrounding Hunter Biden’s business dealings when he asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki, “would the president support the appointment of a special counsel?”

After The New York Times recently came out and verified the authenticity of what many already knew clearly was Hunter Biden’s laptop, speculation has arisen as to the potential of an upcoming indictment of the president’s son. At Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Doocy inquired on the matter after asking about further sanctions against Russia.

“On another topic: A lot of stories about Hunter Biden surfacing this week. So,” Doocy asked, “to ensure the independence of the investigation, would the president support the appointment of a special counsel?”

Rather than take an opportunity to show neutrality on the matter and demonstrate a strong commitment to the principle that no one is above the law, Psaki pushed back against any notion the president would even talk about a criminal investigation against his son.

“Well, first, the president has never had a conversation with the Department of Justice about any investigation into any member of his family,” she stated. “He said that during the campaign, and he will continue to abide by that.”

“So, I would point you to the Department of Justice for any additional steps they would take. They would make those decisions independently,” Psaki argued while not at all answering the question.

Doocy did not relent as he asked, “Is there any concern that they’re not going to be necessarily seen as being able to make the decisions independently if the White House chief of staff is out saying that the president is confident his son did not break the law?”

This was a reference to an interview that Ron Klain did Sunday where he stated, “Of course, the president’s confident that his son didn’t break the law. But, most importantly, as I said, that’s a matter that’s going to be decided by the Justice Department, by the legal process.”

“Well, that’s something the president has said and certainly we would echo. But in the same answer to that question, Peter – during an interview this week on ABC, Ron Klain also said the Justice Department is independent and they will make their own decisions.”

Of course, the very next day it was reported that Klain himself might be involved in an investigation into Hunter Biden despite repeated claims that the president’s son’s actions, “certainly are something that no one at the White House is involved in.”

It is unclear if Doocy was aware of another report that suggested further direct ties to the president despite continued claims to the contrary. Newly revealed emails show Biden had reportedly written a letter of recommendation for the son of one of Hunter Biden’s Chinese business partners to help with admission into an American university.

In light of that report, the follow-up question and answer are telling as Doocy asked, “And the president has said that he never spoke to his son about his overseas business dealings. Is that still the case?”

“Yes,” Psaki responded flatly.

  1. Next question should be- “If President Biden had NO dealings with or knowledge of Hunter’s Chinese business partners, how is it that he came to write a college recommendation letter for the son of one of those partners?”

  2. All this is coming to a head soon. I suspect the MSM is hearing that from sources within the investigation which is why they’re suddenly reporting on Hunter. What absolute and dangerous hypocrites they are.

    1. Soon? At the pace many investigations are going, will things come to a head before the 2024 elections?

  3. House of cards is tittering! And that’s why little red is going to mslsd. She fits like a glove there.

  4. THERE IS NOT (ONE) FRAGMENT OF LIFE, THAT THE DEMONIC, LIBERAL, COMMUNIST, DEMOCRAT AND (RINO) REPUBLICANS, ARE NOT INFECTING. THIS IS ALSO WORLDWIDE.

  5. Really can’t wait until raggity Ann has moved on. I would love to see someone b..ch slap her smug condensending face. When she moves no one will watch, even the Democrats.

    1. Can anybody count on her replacements to be any more truthful than she has been?

  6. Biden has never had a conversation with the Justice department about his son, just like he’s never had a discussion with his son about his foreign business dealings. But hey, democrats are nothing if not liars.
