Wa-Po says out loud what we already knew, that Jan. 6 panel ‘a key part of Democrats midterm strategy’

A Democrat-friendly establishment media outlet admitted on Friday that the Democrats’ “work” on the Jan. 6th commission is linked to the upcoming midterms.

Specifically, the House commission is reportedly looking to dramatize its findings and use these theatrics to try and score an advantage come November.

“The House Jan. 6 committee has tried to recruit high-profile journalists to write its report about the attack on the Capitol, hoping to build a narrative thriller that compels audiences and is a departure from government reports of yore,” according to The Washington Post.

“Their challenge: Making the public care deeply — and read hundreds of pages more — about an event that happened more than a year ago, and that many Americans feel they already understand.”

The goal, the Post notes, is to make the public care “through public hearings, along with a potential interim report and a final report that will be published ahead of the November midterms — with the findings likely a key part of the Democrats’ midterm strategy.”

And apparently, Democrats are willing to go all out for this effort.

“Two people with knowledge of the report say the committee wants it to include gripping testimony and quotes, along with starring roles for key players in the events leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021,” according to the Post.

The Democrat Party base for their part appear to love the idea, as demonstrated by all the names of alleged “journalists they’ve been forwarding to the Post on Twitter:

FYI, not a single person listed above is a real journalist. They’re all glaringly partisan figures. This, however, is not a surprise to critics who say that the whole probe is itself a “shame investigation” designed to “make a mountain out of a molehill.”

Critics argue, for instance, that if the single-day Jan. 6th riot deserves this much attention, then so do the months-long Black Lives Matter riots of 2020.

Critics also wonder why it’s necessary to dramatize the facts to make Americans care. Why, they ask, should Americans be persuaded to care about something that the polls show they aren’t personally concerned about.

And indeed, in remarks to the Post, one unnamed lawmaker said “that even some of their Democratic constituents have lost interest in the committee’s work because of more pressing issues, like inflation and the coronavirus pandemic,” as reported by the Post.

But this, incidentally is exactly why Democrats want to dramatize their findings.

“So it’s key to tell the best story possible with the report that is ultimately issued by the committee so that it actually breaks through,” the lawmaker said.

Lastly, critics take issue with so-called “journalists” helping Democrats’ with their midterm election strategy.

To be fair, there are two ostensible Republicans on the commission: Reps. Elizabeth Warren and Adam Kinzinger.

“Cheney has extensively talked about the committee’s work, spending the majority of her time on the matter, people familiar with her work say,” the Post notes of Cheney’s “work” on the committee.

The problem is that Cheney and Kinzinger are the most hated, least liked Republicans in the party. Some say this is why Cheney’s poll numbers in her reelection campaign are so poor, and similarly why Kinzinger has decided to not even run for reelection.

As far as the Republican Party base is concerned, Cheney and Kinzinger are now nothing more than Trump-hating Democrats who care more about enacting vengeance against former President Donald Trump than about taking care of their constituents’ needs.
