One of Joe Biden’s staunch media defenders stepped on a rake when an attempted dunking on RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel over a tweet bringing attention to the latest weekend away from the White House for the semi-absentee president badly boomeranged.

With the world on fire and badly in need of the steadying hand of U.S. leadership as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia rages, Biden has once again ducked out to spend a quiet weekend at his family’s vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, the latest of three dozen such weekends away from Washington D.C.

Joe Biden is currently on his 36th trip to Delaware on a beach vacation.” McDaniel tweeted. “He still has not visited the border once.”

The nation’s 46th president has yet to visit the southern border where his policies have led to a humanitarian crisis that is about to get much worse as emergency COVID measures put into place by former President Donald J. Trump are set to be rescinded by the administration which has faced intense pressure from activists, the expected swarm of illegal immigrants is predicted to be so massive that DHS is calling for volunteers to provide support with the expectation that existing resources will be overwhelmed.

McDaniel’s tweet was met with a smarmy response from pundit Tom Nichols who writes for The Atlantic, a publication that serves as the gospel for the cultural elite and whose Twitter bio describes himself as “Author. Curmudgeon. Cat guy. Democracy enthusiast, defender of experts.”

In his attempted smackdown of the RNC Chair, Nichols wrote, “The world is on fire but Ronna here has some thoughts” completely oblivious that he just proved the point that she was trying to make.

Twitter users were quick to let Nichols know that his response didn’t quite mean what he likely intended it to.

“You just inadvertently proved her point,” wrote one user

Another user wrote, “I’m not sure that you pointing out that the world is on fire with a tweet about the President being at the beach really makes the point you want to make,”

“Brilliant insight Tom. It’s most important to focus on world disasters and not that the potus is on vacation at the beach during those disasters,” jabbed another user.

Additional responses to the embarrassing misfire.

Later, Nichols took to Twitter to try to spin his bumbled owning of McDaniel by playing the Beau Biden card and trying to change the subject to Trump.

“He went to church and visited his son‘s grave in his hometown. It’s not like he went to Florida to play golf,” he wrote.

Biden arrived at the beach on Friday, hours after a high-stakes phone call with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping who he warned of “consequences” if the communist nation attempts to lend a helping hand to Vladimir Putin after his act of aggression by invading the neighboring country.

Biden will chill at the beach with Dr. Jill and his dog Commander before heading across the pond to Europe for a meeting with NATO leaders on the Ukraine situation next week.
