President Joe Biden’s lax border control policies have already led to a mass influx of illegal immigrants since he took office and things are about to get much worse when the emergency measures that were enacted to mitigate the spread of COVID are soon lifted, sending authorities into a scramble to find resources to deal with the coming swarm.

The Department of Homeland Security is looking for volunteers to go to the U.S. border to assist with what could be an overwhelming number of migrants who are massing in anticipation of the end of the Title 42 restrictions that were put into place by former President Donald J. Trump to mitigate the spread of the virus during the pandemic.

It is expected that the current administration will be ending the policy that allows for instant expulsions of illegal immigrants as Biden has come under intense pressure from Democrats and activists in an election year that is critical for the party to retain its grasp on government power.

DHS Deputy Secretary John Tien is urging employees to join the DHS Volunteer Force to assist with the expected surge of migrants which, according to a report by Axios, could be as large as 170.000, a massive number that would overwhelm the existing resources to process them.

“Department of Homeland Security intelligence estimates that perhaps 25,000 migrants already are waiting in Mexican shelters just south of the border for Title 42 to end,” according to Axios.

The volunteer force was previously called to action to assist with last year’s influx of Afghan refugees after Biden surrendered the country to the Taliban; it has also been used to deal with prior spikes in illegal immigration at the southern border.

According to the Wednesday email from Tien: “Time and time again, we have come together as a Department to support our colleagues in executing a critical mission. Over the past year, our Department has asked you to go above and beyond your normal responsibilities to join the efforts of the DHS Volunteer Force (DVF) to support our personnel at the Southwest Border and to help resettle thousands of Afghan nationals as part of our Operation Allies Refuge and Operation Allies Welcome.”

“To date, nearly 1,400 of you have answered these calls,” he wrote. “Once again, we need to tap into our Department’s greatest resource: the skills of our talented and diverse workforce. Today, I am asking you to consider stepping forward to support the DHS Volunteer Force.”

The email states that the volunteers will be needed in two critical areas, general support with “no special skills needed – just a desire to lend a hand” and data entry with “Spanish language skills.” Volunteers will be given training in IT according to Tien.

With preparations underway to deal with what Axios has labeled a “mass migration event,” the response “includes a newly created — and previously unreported — Southwest Border Coordination Center (SBCC), essentially a war room to coordinate an interagency response,” according to the outlet.
