Democrats may be about to truly pay the price for their wholehearted embrace of the toxic teachings of Critical Race Theory and, with backlash on the way at the ballot box, it’s probably only a matter of time until some begin to put some distance between themselves and the virulently anti-white dogma.
One of the first rats to break for the lifeboats is Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, the quirky former congressman who is running to replace incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott this November as his party pursues its longtime dream of turning the deeply conservative red state blue.
The failed U.S. Senate and presidential candidate caught the attention of Abbott’s campaign when on Friday during a town hall in Victoria, TX he flip-flopped on CRT, saying that he didn’t think that it should be taught in schools, an indication of how radioactive it has become as more and more Americans have become aware of what it really is.

It isn’t the first time that O’Rourke has reversed course after sensing a shift in the political winds; he also flip-flopped on gun confiscation which he had called for on numerous occasions.
Beto backpedals on desires to take firearms away from Americans: “I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone… What I want to make sure that we do is defend the Second Amendment.”
No shot at Texas Governor.
Nice try, @BetoORourke. 🐍 pic.twitter.com/CRZ41DGRzs— Suburban Black Man 🇺🇸 (@goodblackdude) February 11, 2022
Hell yes, we're gonna take your AR-15.

Some were quick to point out how O’Rourke’s remarks are an acknowledgment of just how damaging that CRT has become to Democrats as well as a winning issue for the GOP.
Beto is a shameless flip-flopper, but the lesson is clear: critical race theory is toxic with voters and the Democrats’ polling on culture war issues has collapsed. Conservatives must go on offense. Make the opposition defend CRT and bash them through the midterms.

Beto has given Republicans a gift. They can now say “even Beto O’Rourke says critical race theory shouldn’t be taught in schools.”

I think @BetoORourke is trying what Youngkin did so well, he’s trying to appeal to Moderates and Independents without pissing off his base. Thing is, Beto is not nearly as sincere or smart as Youngkin … and his base is easily pissed off. https://t.co/BurzmELnfc

Others were skeptical that O’Rourke’s position will be permanent and, like Joe Biden, he is just presenting himself as a “moderate” to dupe swing voters.
I don’t believe anything a democrat politician says especially not BETO! But it’s funny because it shows Dems know crt is not popular

I don’t believe him. He’s a liar & an opportunist. He’s just saying it because he thinks people wanna hear it.
— Liz Wheeler (@Liz_Wheeler) March 12, 2022
Like Biden Beto will lie to get elected. Beto is most definitely for CRT being taught in school.
— Joe_Bananas🇺🇸 (@Joe_Puppet_) March 12, 2022
Beto O’Rourke wets his finger in the wind, and goes in that direction. If he was still on stage in a Democratic national debate, you can be he’d LOVE him some CRT.
— Dunkin’ Idaho (@DunkinIdaho1) March 12, 2022
If you believe for an instant that Beto is against CRT, you are a complete idiot. That guy will say anything to get a vote and then do what he really thinks. And if you think he’s not coming for your guns anymore, you are completely lost.
— TX-Flex🇺🇸 (@TX_Flex) March 12, 2022
Beto, Sept. 2019: “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”
Beto, Feb. 2022: “I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone.”
Why would you believe him about CRT?
— Matt (@matt0999) March 12, 2022
Beto is a snake in the grass, he's "against" CRT right now until he would get into office, just like he's pro-2A. The man will lie about anything to become governor of Texas. https://t.co/XmxjTjFDBu
— Ruen (@rruen2) March 12, 2022
Considering that O’Rourke is already a two-time loser, it will likely take more than a deathbed conversion on CRT for a man who would be the poster boy for white privilege if it actually existed to end up in the governor’s mansion in the Lone Star State.
