Irishman hauled off after breaching gates of Russian embassy with truck: ‘I’ve done my bit, lads!’

Desmond Wisley was filmed saying “I’ve done my bit, lads” after smashing his cargo truck into the gates of Dublin’s Russian embassy.

As he received accolades from the people around him who appeared to be protesting Russia’s invasion into Ukraine, he handed out leaflets containing a heartbreaking photograph of a young family killed by a Russian strike as they were attempting to evacuate.

“I just done this to create a safe corridor for the Russian ambassador to leave Ireland,” he explained. “I want the ambassador and his colleagues to leave this country, leave this free country.”

“It’s about time we stood up,” Wisley noted. “That’s my contribution today.”

However, the police didn’t appear to appreciate the gesture as much as the protesters and had to arrest Wisley. He went willingly and even offered the officer leaflet as well. “I’ve done my bit, lads. It’s about time the rest of Ireland done their bit,” he said as he walked away.
