Nikki Haley shares strategy for US to start leading, says giving Russia oil money is ‘absolute lunacy!’

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley referred to President Joe Biden’s current strategy in dealing with Russia as “absolute lunacy,” stating it’s time to “start leading.”

Haley joined Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” where the two discussed the response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine from the United States. Haley unequivocally stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a war criminal in her assessment before pointing out the known elements of the conflict that could have been dealt with prior to escalation.

After pointing to Putin’s disregard for human life and Biden’s ineptitude regarding cutting off defensive supplies to Ukraine in March 2021, Bartiromo asked what should “the administration and allies be doing for Ukraine today?”

“Stop reacting and start leading,” Haley stated. “First of all, work with Ukraine on real-time intelligence so that we can tell them everything that’s happening that they can’t see.”

Haley added that military armaments, including the proposed multinational fighter jet transfer, needed to be provided immediately “so they can cover their own airspace.”

“We’ve got to make sure we sanction these energy companies,” Haley went on, “all of them. We’ve got to make sure that we pull them out of the international banking system, and we need to stop taking any Russian oil.”

“The idea that we would give our money to an enemy is unthinkable,” Haley emphasized, “and it’s absolute lunacy. We can’t allow this to continue.”

Haley’s concern has been echoed by lawmakers whose push to return to American energy independence has only grown as a result of the Russian invasion.

Bartiromo brought up a statement from Biden from last week where he said it was “too early” to determine whether or not war crimes had been committed in Ukraine, to which Haley replied, “I don’t know what more Biden needs to see to know this is a thug.”

Haley reiterated her concern about the leadership in the United States and brought up the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan, the waived sanctions of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, and Biden’s efforts to secure the Iran nuclear deal.

“We should not in any way get back in this Iran deal,” Haley said before bringing up the administration’s efforts to get China to lean on Russia. From a policy perspective, she asserted the United States should not rely on one enemy to stop another.

Haley’s concerns stretched beyond the current crisis to the potential of a similar invasion by China into Taiwan. With the United States economically beholden in many ways to Chinese markets, she once more made clear the importance of leading before the situation grew out of control.

These suggestions of lunacy with regards to American policy in dealing with Russia follow statements that Haley has made in the past calling into question the cognitive abilities of Biden.

“…let’s face it, we’ve got a lot of people in leadership positions that are old. And that’s not being disrespectful,” Haley qualified.”That’s a fact. And…this shouldn’t be partisan.”
