In yet another sign that the Biden administration and Democrats are going to declare victory over COVID and let the last two years of misery and mass hysteria be forgotten, the spinmeisters trotted out the nation’s 46th president to engage in a bit of world class gaslighting.

In a just-released interview between Biden and progressive podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen, the man who never delivered on his campaign vows to conquer the virus sought to use COVID as an excuse for why Americans are depressed and incapable of recognizing the wonderful economic progress that has taken place during the first thirteen months of his White House term.

With his highly-anticipated State of The Union address only two days away, Biden accused Americans who aren’t jumping for joy over his economy of having been so psychologically impacted as a result of COVID that they are unable to realize how really good that they have it.

Citing input from Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Biden talked about what he called a lasting “negative psychological impact” from COVID.

“So you have an awful lot of people who are, not withstanding the fact that things have gotten so much better for them economically that they are thinking but how do you get up in the morning and feel happy? Happy that everything’s all right, even though your job is better, even though you have more income,” he said.

Biden then turned to inflation, the hidden tax that is eating Americans alive, “And then on top of that because of COVID, supply chains have been so interrupted that now you have inflation and inflation’s… for example, one third of all inflation a month ago was the price of automobiles, well why did they get so high?”

“You know those little computer chips,” he continued, “we invented them here in the United States and went to the moon, we don’t make them much anymore, we’re starting to now but what happens is where they’re made in parts of southeast Asia and Taiwan and other places and we don’t get them to us quick enough and can’t get there, everything slows up and the same way with you know, you have Ukraine to Russia, you know wheat and all those products.”

He added, “The generic point is that I think that we’re getting control of that and we’re gonna get there but it really is disquieting for people,” setting up the shifting of the blame away from the catastrophic effects of his disastrous policies.

The reality-based world reacted to Biden’s outlandish claim via Twitter.

While Biden has continued to provide evidence that he is completely out of touch with the suffering of regular Americans, his cynical handlers will almost certainly blame Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for the pain at the pump, skyrocketing prices and product shortages while shifting their political exploitation of COVID into an entirely new phase in order to portray administration critics of being mentally and psychologically ill, a diabolical strategy that is straight out of the Soviet playbook and it just might work.
