Leaders of the Freedom Convoy are being taken into custody as the once-proud nation of Canada descends into despotism after leftist Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s approval of the use of sweeping anti-terrorism powers to squash peaceful protests against his government’s COVID tyranny.
Following weeks of demonstrations against the regime’s vaccine mandates that included blockades on key trade routes including the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, Trudeau went scorched earth on Monday when he took the unprecedented measure of invoking the country’s Emergencies Act allowing methods that would normally be used to combat the likes of ISIS and al-Qaeda against his own citizens.
With the Trudeau regime using the “public-private partnership” to financially destroy what he derisively called a “small, fringe minority” by having financial institutions freeze their accounts, the process of rounding up the convoy’s leaders and organizers has now commenced.
On Thursday, Ottawa police arrested Chris Barber who, according to the Daily Mail, is “a truck driver for the last 28 years who led the Saskatchewan portion of the protest convoy that has been in Ottawa for the last three weeks, was walking down the street with several friends when police detained him.”
Video of the apprehension was posted on social media.

Also arrested on Thursday was Tamara Lich who was accosted by Ottawa Police on a snowy street and then hauled away, the day after the former fitness instructor from Saskatchewan posted an emotional video to social media, fighting back tears while acknowledging the inevitability of her being targeted by the regime.
“There’s a pretty good chance – well I think it’s inevitable at this point – but, uh, I’ll probably be going somewhere tomorrow (Thursday) where I’ll be getting three square meals a day. And that’s OK,” she said.

“Both remain in police custody and are expected to be charged criminally, according to sources,” the CBC reported.
The two high-profile arrests come as Trudeau faces resistance in Parliament over his iron-fisted response to the protests which he defended before the legislative body.
Illegal blockades and occupations are not peaceful protests – they’re a threat to jobs and communities, and they cannot continue. In the House of Commons earlier today, I joined Members of Parliament to speak about that and about the need to invoke the Emergencies Act. pic.twitter.com/h92nyP0yQs

“The blockades and occupations are illegal,” he declared, “they’re a threat to our economy and relationship with trading partners, they’re a threat to supply chains and the availability of essential goods like food and medicine and they’re a threat to public safety.”
Conservative lawmakers have excoriated the prime minister as he seeks to solidify his power over the nation during heated sessions that have at times become ugly, such as when Trudeau responded to criticism from a Jewish MP by accusing her of standing with “people who wave swastikas,” a despicable remark that serves as a perfect example of the dehumanizing rhetoric that he has resorted to in describing protesters.

Trudeau’s flexing of his dictatorial muscles was also called out by conservative MP Candice Bergen.

According to the Daily Mail, “Canada’s left-leaning New Democrats said they would reluctantly support Trudeau’s minority Liberal government, virtually ensuring passage of the measure upholding his emergency powers in the House of Commons. Together the two parties hold 184 seats out of 338 in the lower chamber.”
“Under law, any use of the Emergencies Act must be brought before Parliament within seven days for approval,” the outlet reported. “Debate began Thursday and will continue, according to the Act, ‘without interruption’ until the vote is called, which is expected to occur as soon as Friday.”
