A school district in California whose motto is “we expect excellence” is reportedly threatening to sic child abuse investigators or the truant officer on any parent who sends their kid to school without a mask.
In a misnumbered memo to parents embedded below that was shared by Libs of Tik Tok on Twitter, the Ripon Unified School District in the San Francisco area reportedly outlined some potentially “drastic alternatives or actions” if parents don’t remove their children from the campus should they show up without wearing a face covering and thus pose “a clear and present danger” to others.
In a warning to parents that puts the onus on moms and dads, officials claim they would prefer to avoid measures such as “Contacting County Child Protective Services and request that they remove your children from campus as they have been abandoned on campus by you” or “identifying your children as truant…which could result in criminal charges against you.”
Expulsion is also a possibility, as is seeking a restraining order in court to ban a non-compliant student from campus, the district added.
HOLY SHIT. @riponusd is threatening to call CPS for children who don’t wear a mask to school pic.twitter.com/l1uoKGBy3Z

This comes as a number of blue-state, follow-the-political-science governors, including California’s Gavin Newsom (who was again, like many other prominent Democrats, recently caught in public violating a masking edict), are dropping indoor mask mandates, although Newsom is keeping it in place for schoolchildren.
At least for now, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends indoor masking in the K-12 environment regardless of COVID vaccination status.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told Reuters on Tuesday that “Right now our CDC guidance has not changed…We continue to endorse universal masking in schools.”
Parenthetically, conservative firebrand Lauren Boebert, the Colorado congresswoman (along with others) has satirically renamed the CDC as the Center for Democrat Control.
An article recently published by two scientists and an ER doctor in The Atlantic, a liberal establishment publication, insisted that after reviewing various mask-in-schools studies, including those conducted by the CDC, they came up “empty handed.”
“Therefore, the overall takeaway from these studies—that schools with mask mandates have lower COVID-19 transmission rates than schools without mask mandates—is not justified by the data that have been gathered,” the trio wrote.
Even Bill Maher, the liberal HBO host, has said that “making kids, who have a COVID survivability rate of 99.98%, mask up like bandits…unfortunately, the thing that is getting stolen is their education, their sanity, and their social skills.”
Given the controversies that have emerged across the country, some incumbent and stubborn school board members in various jurisdictions seem to have concluded that they are better informed than future school board members, i.e., the concerned parents who are running in the next election to replace them.
In the meantime, the Ripon school district is getting ripped for allegedly issuing some dire and hardly family-friendly threats. Here is just a small sample of the response:
These ghouls enjoy the suffering of children. There’s no other explanation.

Just have your kids identify as a Democratic politician. No mask needed anymore.

That memo reads of a power hungry authoritarian who wants to show parents who the boss is.

They’re going to take case workers, who already overloaded, and have them investigate weather a kid is wearing a piece of cloth over their mouths? This is some people’s got some serious authority issues.

This must’ve been typed up in a hurry. They were too busy making threats to fix the outline numbering or properly use “it’s”. The last paragraph has the immature tone of “don’t you make me hit you.”

“Abandoned on campus by you” this is insane!
— Richard Pollard (@RPollardRealtor) February 8, 2022
So we’re favoring a piece of useless cloth over your face over kids education and parents freedom?
— CB27 (@RittenDaddy) February 8, 2022
Utterly insane. I don’t think the people who wrote this should be around kids. There are always prison guard jobs but not a public school.
