Canadian truckers are “disgusted” with the coverage they’ve had suggesting corporate media may be a “cult.”

Brigitte Belton, an Ontario-based truck driver, recently spoke with Fox News Digital saying, “I’m downright disgusted by the press and the way they have covered the convoy.”

As an unvaccinated trucker, Belton was barred from crossing the border in the United States when vaccine mandates were instituted. With her work impacted, she helped organize the Freedom Convoy that had little to no coverage from the media until recently, Newbusters documented.

What little coverage they have offered has been negative, including this instance where MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called the convoy a “cult.”

The media aren’t the only ones to use this biased language toward the convoy as Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly has been cited as calling the truckers a “threat to democracy” participating in a “nationwide insurrection” and a “siege” as seen in the clip below.

Belton responded to these characterizations saying it’s “Not only the American media, the Canadian media as well. They’re spinning their own narrative. This isn’t a cult…The federal government, the city of Ottawa, all those organizations that are out to get us right now, maybe that’s the cult.”

This supercut shows a compilation of government and media figures expressing their shared view.

“I think anybody that uses those statements from [Sloly] are supporting the slandering of good people,”  Belton added. “All we want is our freedom. Why is this a bad thing?”

The Canadian Freedom Convoy has inspired similar movements around the world, and the feeling from these other truckers mirrors Belton’s.

“It seems like everything is a cult or an insurrection or an assault on democracy these days,” truck driver Brian Ilsley told Fox News Digital. “I don’t understand how people fighting for their freedom can be an assault on democracy.”

“These guys are so disconnected with the average guy,” Ilsey said before later adding, “People in liberal media, the guys that have that platform, the Scarboroughs, the CNN anchors, they never have to worry about this stuff because they’re already set and paid, they’re already part of the machine. They don’t have to worry if they’re going to make it to the next day with the paycheck they already have.”

For drivers like him and the ones he works with at Maine Expedited Freight group he says, “My guys have to worry, do they get to eat next week?”

Pointing to remarks made on CNN by John King and Paula Newton restating Sloly’s “nationwide insurrection driven by madness,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha emphasized the partisan contrast between coverage of the Freedom Convoy and the Capital Hill Occupied Zone/Capital Hill Autonomous Zone in Seattle during the summer of 2020.

“You have a so-called objective journalist taking a partisan opinion and inject his or her opinion into that report and turn it around and present it as straight news,” Concha said before adding, “…’sedition,’ ‘insurrection,’ ‘threat to democracy,’ over a protest.  Did CNN use that kind of ridiculous rhetoric when describing what happened in Seattle during the summer of love in 2020 when literally a police station and several blocks were taken over by left-wing activists?”
