A Democrat lawmaker has claimed that his office has been flooded with calls from Tucker Carlson viewers who are pressuring him for not taking sides with Russia as the White House pushes a beleaguered nation closer to war over Ukraine.

According to Rep. Tom Malinowski of New Jersey, the alleged calls were inspired by Carlson’s commentary on the rapidly escalating crisis in which he has been critical of the rush to war while suggesting that such a conflict would have no actual benefit to Americans who have enough problems at home.

On Monday, the congressman tweeted, “My office is now getting calls from folks who say they watch Tucker Carlson and are upset that we’re not siding with Russia in its threats to invade Ukraine, and who want me to support Russia’s “reasonable” positions.”

In an interview with The Hill, Malinowski added, “People get their opinions by watching the news, that’s nothing new.

“What is new is we have at least one talk show host with a huge captive audience that is not exposed to any counter-programming elsewhere … I find that very concerning,” he said.

The travelers at the disgraced Lincoln Project were all over it.

Carlson has taken heavy fire for his coverage of the Ukraine-Russia standoff and his daring to point out that a foreign war doesn’t benefit Americans who continue to be battered by the Biden administration’s ongoing failure to defeat COVID as promised, skyrocketing prices, and empty shelves in grocery stores, a column that Carlson penned for Fox News over the weekend accusing Washington neocons of “recklessly stoking conflict between those two countries for years now” was particularly galling to those who have tirelessly advocated for war.

The Fox News host upped the ante on Monday night with another monologue that isn’t going to sit well with the cheerleaders for what could be a costly and prolonged foreign war by laying out the potential costs to real Americans outside of the Beltway as well as pointing out who would really benefit from a war with Russia over a border conflict thousands of miles away – China.

According to Carlson, “What’s not at all complicated is who benefits from our conflict with Russia. China benefits, period. The Chinese government is the only certain winner here. We can give you many examples to illustrate this, but consider the latest economic sanctions the White House has proposed against Russia.”

“The Biden administration may use something called the foreign direct product rule to cut off Russia’s supply of semiconductors made with American technology. This would, in the hopeful assessment of The Washington Post ‘potentially deprive Russian citizens of some smartphones, tablets and video game consoles,'” he continued.

“So depriving Russian citizens is good, we’re told, because Russian citizens are bad,” he said, “OK, but what are the long-term effects on us? Russians are still going to have smartphones. They’ll just get their components somewhere else, meaning from China. The Chinese have already pledged to help, and they have every incentive to make good on that promise.

“In other words, the Biden administration will succeed in continuing to drive our two main global rivals closer to a permanent alliance with one another. How does that help America? Well, it doesn’t. Over time, it’s dangerous, and not just militarily,” Carlson pointed out.

Malinowski’s claim came on a day when the Pentagon announced that it has put 8,500 troops on “heightened alert” as negotiations between the Biden administration and the nuclear power have been fruitless in de-escalating a potential conflict after President Joe Biden convened his national security council following the British government’s accusation of Russia’s plotting to install a “puppet leader” in Kyiv.

However, the British officials provided no actual evidence of such a plot, a detail that the Associated Press acknowledged in its report on the matter: “The U.K. government made the claim based on an intelligence assessment, without providing evidence to back it up.”

There are few voices who are calling to avert what could be a disaster for the U.S. and one of the loudest has been Carlson; the demands for his censorship are likely to grow louder as Democrats and their allies seek to portray him and his viewers as Putin’s pawns.
