Maher jokingly suggests making Barack Obama ‘First Lady’ to save Biden’s freefalling approval

Democrats are beginning to panic over the prospects of extending their one-party rule over America as the results of President Joe Biden’s disastrous policies become increasingly obvious and the party struggles with a lack of viable alternatives, leading some liberals like Bill Maher desperately searching for a savior.

On Friday’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” the comic opened his first show of 2022 with a frank analysis of Biden’s failures and lamented the idea that at the one-year mark of his White House tenure, the nation’s 46th president has already lost the faith of much of the nation.

Closing out the episode with his “New Rules” segment, Maher served up the bitter truth to his audience without sugarcoating it.

“Democrats must thank President Biden for his great service to America and then move him into a more ceremonial role,” Maher began. “Let me finish, Joe Biden has been president now for a year and a day, the day was pretty good, but the year? Not horrible, certainly better than the alternative, but for some reason, America has lost its faith in Joe. Sometimes that just happens.”

He then referenced a CBS poll that just 26 percent of Americans believe that the country is headed in the right direction, as well as a Quinnipiac poll putting Biden’s approval rating at a horrific 33 percent with no bottom in sight, which Maher noted was the “lowest for any president ever, even Trump, 33 percent if he were a movie he’d be listed as certified rotten, and of course, he’s not.”

Maher then served up the talking point that despite skyrocketing prices and empty shelves, things really aren’t that bad and that Biden just doesn’t get enough credit.

“And what’s gone wrong is certainly not all Joe’s fault. But the hard fact is even when Joe does something good, he seems to get no credit. Our economy is actually pretty awesome considering what we’ve just been through. Wages are up, workers have more leverage, we avoided a recession, stocks just had their best year since 1995 and yet only 38 percent approve of his handling of the economy, this is what happens when you lack passionate defenders,” Maher said.

He then struck a more pessimistic tone.

“Biden may very well have even further to fall because there’s no diehard Biden base, his is a coalition of the unenthused,” he said, suggesting that his only real accomplishment was beating Trump and that “to most people now, it looks like Joe Biden’s get up and go got up and went.”

“Their bench is so thin, they’re even talking about running Hillary again,” he said, “and I’m sure she’s thinking, well who else you got?” as he pointed out that VP Kamala Harris has an approval rating that’s even lower than her boss, that Bernie Sanders is “too old,” Pete Buttigieg is “too young” and disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo isn’t a viable option.

Then Maher ventured into fantasyland with the idea that perhaps the Democrats could look to the past for a brighter future – Barack Obama.

“Biden and Obama must divorce their wives, not leave them, just ‘officially,’ ‘legally’ divorce them,” he proposed.

“Then Biden will gay marry Obama,” he said as the audience hooted in approval, “thereby putting him back in the White House. Yes, the law says Obama can’t be president again but there’s nothing to say he can’t be first lady, and if Obama was back as Biden’s husband, the Democratic Party would get its mojo back and we’d have confidence that the person really running the show was the person we really want running the show.”

Such a batty suggestion can easily be bandied about by Maher as comedy, but the sad fact is that many Democrats are pining for a glorious return for Mr. Obama as the grim reality that Biden’s regime has been an unmitigated disaster sinks in and the clock ticks down to the fateful day when voters will have their say.
