Former President Donald Trump took aim at “mandate happy” Democrats in a statement released on the eve of the first anniversary of the Capitol riot.
Trump blasted his successor, President Joe Biden, for his failed handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and urged his supporters to “rise up” against the administration’s long arm as far as ongoing mandates and restrictions.
His use of the term “rise up” in a message coming the day before the one-year mark of the riot at the U.S. Capitol reportedly raised some eyebrows, but Trump was clearly urging Americans to push back against Biden’s overreach. A previously planned press conference that Trump was to hold Thursday from his Palm Beach, Florida resort was canceled in recent days.
“The Biden Administration’s response to COVID is getting worse every day,” Trump’s statement began, calling out Biden who declared “there is no federal solution” to the pandemic but turned around and “federalized the distribution of antibodies, and red states are getting the short end of the stick.”

“In my administration, we respected the role of Governors to take care of their own states, and they could request antibodies and therapeutics depending on what they needed. That’s the way our Country is supposed to be run,” Trump asserted.
The former president then slammed the latest developments over school closures and vaccines for children.
“Now, there’s talk by the Biden Administration again about closing schools and even vaccine mandates for school children,” Trump said.
“This is an outrage, and MAGA nation should rise up and oppose this egregious federal government overreach,” he added, calling out Democrats for being “so incredibly mandate happy.”
He touted the accomplishments of his own administration, noting that under his watch they created “vaccines in record time” while still reiterating that but mandates are wrong.
“People should be able to choose how they want to govern their own health. The federal government must be reined in and give the people back the freedom to decide whether they want to be vaccinated or not,” Trump declared.
“Joe Biden said he would never issue mandates, but he did it anyway like so many other things,” he concluded.
