One of the very, very few good things to come out of the coronavirus pandemic has been a brief respite from the antics of the “Holly-weird” crowd. However, as people become more comfortable with the idea of leaving their homes and gathering in crowds again, so returns stuff like this.

Pop star Katy Perry performed her first-ever Las Vegas residency, Play, on Wednesday night and it was… something.

The stage was set, literally, with giant rolls of toilet paper and a toilet, a massive “talking” surgical mask and other allusions to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her outfits were nothing but eye-catching as well, but the ensemble that took the case was a dress made of cans. Later, the audience found out that not only were those cans functioning, but they were full as well. Perry popped the top on one of her breast beers and then chugged.

See for yourself:

While none of her other outfits stole the show quite like the alcohol-lactation number, they were no less stunning as the singer belted out some of her most famous tunes.

As more and more people head out of lockdown, events will continue to pop up (though one will probably have to be vaxed, boostered, masked and quarantined to even purchase a ticket,) and it’s inevitable that shenanigans such as this will continue.

Among those who have also had residency stints in Las Vegas are legendary artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Celine Dion and Elton John.

Twitter reactions to the dress and its hidden functions were mixed, though the general consensus was that this event was just too strange for your average music fan:
