Charles Payne: Suffering Americans unimpressed with Biden's economic 'bragging session'

Charles Payne, host of Fox Business’ “Making Money with Charles Payne,” lambasted the Biden administration for going on a victory lap while Americans are still suffering.

During the Wednesday episode of “Special Report,” he reminded the elites on Capitol Hill that people are still facing the very real effects of the supply chain crisis and other economic impacts of COVID-19.

“This supply chain issue is going to go on for a long time. There are short-term reasons for it, but also long-term reasons for it. I think the most important thing to understand is that the average American is suffering mightily. It’s not about the Christmas presents people may or may not have gotten,” Payne said.

He further suggested that ignoring this suffering and, instead, seeking “atta boys” from the American population doesn’t seem like the best strategy, worsening his already incredibly poor public image.

“[T]hese sessions should be designed to seek solutions, and every time they turn into some sort of cheerleading, ‘Hey, look what we did’ kind of thing, it doesn’t help. It doesn’t solve the problems, and it certainly doesn’t help with the public image. We do have some serious problems with supply chains, and some of them are going to go away naturally,” Payne explained.

Payne’s reference to delayed Christmas gifts may have been his way of “circling back” to White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s shockingly condescending remarks in the early days of the supply chain crisis, which she dubbed at the time “the tragedy of the treadmill that’s delayed.”

“So just a question on the timing on the supply chain issue — actions that the president has taken,” began New York Times journalist Michael Shear. “It was clear in March of 2020, when COVID hit, that the supply chains across the world had been disrupted. Even as the sort of work to fight back against COVID proceeded…it was crystal clear that things were not improving on supply chain. People couldn’t get dishwashers and furniture and treadmills delivered on time, not to mention all sorts of other things. So why is it —”
