Mike Rowe had some strong words for President Joe Biden, who himself had some strong words about why the economy is faltering.

Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki recently laid the blame for inflation and rising prices on greed, conveniently side-stepping any blame or responsibility for the situation. Rowe, who is now a frequent guest commenter on Fox News, had a slightly different take on the matter, pointing to the culpability the Biden administration may share for the current issues of inflation and labor plaguing the nation while a guest for Fox’s Jesse Waters on Saturday:

“Look one of the first goals of ‘Dirty Jobs’ was to simply remind Americans where their food comes from. Y’know, there’s not a meat tree in the backyard, alright?” he said. “All the things you just mentioned, matter. Look, the politics of this thing is pretty self evident, but when you really boil it down, when you’re in a situation like this, my buddies on the left will typically point to greed as the reason, and my friends on the right will typically point to laziness in the human condition, at least when you’re talking about the labor shortage.

“And make no mistake, the shortage of labor is impacting the price of meat, the price of gas, the price of everything. All of this stuff is connected, and I don’t think Jen [Psaki] has much left, really,” Rowe continued. “If you don’t blame greed, then you have to assume the responsibility that the policies you’ve put in place have fostered a level of dependency among the proletariat that’s not exactly in keeping with your capitalistic virtues.”

The comments specifically reference the current spat between the Biden administration and the meat industry, among other things. Blame has shifted back and forth between the two, with Biden calling “big meat” price gouging profiteers, and the meat industry firing back with claims that Biden is simply trying to deflect from his own failures and oversimplify the problems of logistics and labor shortages for political points.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki addressed the issue at a briefing last week, saying there are differences from industry to industry before highlighting the “greed of meat conglomerates.”

“Gross profit margins for big meat processors are up 50%, and net margins are up over 300%. That should not be the case,” Psaki said. “That is not all attributed to the supply chain issues.”

Rowe has been a frequent critic of the way labor issues are being handled in the United States. Rowe told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Thursday that he believes that the work ethic is being deteriorated to the point that it has become a national security issue:

“This is no longer a matter of a skills gap or a few million people unemployed and employers frustrated because of the mismatch of skills. This is a matter of national security. I think it goes right to our identity as a people.”

Rowe is the host of “Dirty Jobs” on Discovery and “How America Works” on Fox Business, and is a frequent commentator on blue collar issues in America.
